Split #1 marks the debut of a new vinyl series, to be hosted on the Various Artists catalogue of Pi Electronics. The split series will be bringing two artists on the same vinyl, with this very first release presenting music by Greek producers Fragedis and Nemmett.

Coming from different backgrounds of electronic music, prolific figure of the Cretan islands’ dance scene, Fragedis and one of the Athenean founding members of the ᾽π᾽ crew, Nemmett, contribute their sharpest weapons to this release.

On the A side, Fragedis delivers a techno/breaks cut of dystopian melodies and vocal samples with his opening track “Flantza”. His second track, “Klirish” blends industrial leaning percussion with Detroit techno flavored synths.

On the flip side, Nemmett returns with his trademark industrial / breaks sound, in a hypnotic, rap vocal atmosphere with the track “Altars”. His broken beat influences go more noise with his second track “Teeth”, which concludes the B side of the vinyl.

Arkajo returns to his self-titled imprint this September for its third release, featuring two originals and remixes from Forest Drive West and Ebende. Gothenburg, Sweden’s Arkajo has been releasing his contemporary twist on House, Techno and Leftfield Electronica for the past five years under this guise as well as Genius Of Time, a collaborative project alongside fellow Swedish artist Dorisburg. Here
he returns to the Arkajo imprint following on from his and Dorisburg’s ‘Void Pyramid’ back in May 2019.

‘Truth’ leads the release and pieces together Arkajo’s signature tribal tinged, off-kilter percussion with heavy doses of shattering subs, modulating synth work and hypnotic vocal chants. Livity Sound regular Forest Drive West then steps in remix duties, twisting ‘Truth’ into a murky, subtly unfurling eight minutes via cavernous reverbs, resonant
percussion, sweeping bass tones and intricate processing of the original parts.

The second original from Arkajo opens the b-side, entitled ‘Earth’ and retaining a similar aesthetic the Swedish artist fuses bumpy broken drums with thunderous subs, bubbling echoes and menacing pads. Aniara artist Ebende then wraps up the release, switching
things up to a more classic house feel courtesy of a winding Hammond organ hook, shuffled drums and airy chord sequences.

@Volsoc is an American Electro project, consisting of Justin Maxwell and Jean-Paul Bondy. The project was formed after a series of collaborative live performances in the Southern California rave scene in 1999-2000. Combining their individual monikers, Stupid Octave Cat ("soc") and Volum, the two first recorded under this name for the 2001 Abduction Productions compilation, but then released their first 12" on Germany's World Electric.

@Univac-Geistform is the focus of this @DarkScienceElectro Rewind.

Since 2010, the Univac project was created by Rafael M. Espinosa in Spain. He is also the creator of the electronic techno-industrial project @Geistform - This track appeared on his debut record on @bunkerrecordsofficial - His sound hovers somewhere between Detroit Electro like Drexciya and Machine Funk from The Hague. This entire album is gold and is highly recommended by me. Bunker has made it available digitally on their Bandcamp. Be sure to check out his recent releases on @Moustache-Records and @MelodizeMusic

Cultek was the project of Phil Bolland of @cultivated-electronics (Sync 24) and Rob Smith.

With only one release as the duo on the legendary @touchin-bass label, this duo, unfortunately, never returned. The one EP that they did produce is still on rotation in my household and has been for many years. Thoughtful, minimal Electro that everyone should hear.

Dirty Maria and Parule join forces as EVUL and bring you 'Unlucky Year'. With a snippet of Otoboke Beaver's vocals morphed into a mesmerizing rhythmic vocoder synth, consistent percussions, wet hi-hats and a wonky bassline, the track creates an undeniable bouncy vibe for the audience.

“Ruines, Béton & Industrie” follows the 30-years-old friendship between Guillaume and Andrew. They met in Grenoble, the French techno city, home of The Hacker, Kittin and Etant Donnés. They also discovered rave culture together. It took almost 20 years before they recorded their first song. Between reality and the digital realm, they started to record, compose, write and exchange what would become this LP around 2020.

Bordeaux-based, Guillaume works as an artist plastician and sound performer. He is known for his project The Garçon and performs under the moniker Po.Go.

Berlin-based, Andrew spends most of his time there and in his studio in Bretagne, France. He is part of the electronic Disco band called Acid Washed and has collaborated with Patti Smith and Jean Michel Jarre.

Andrew and Guillaume incessantly travelled back-and-forth between Berlin and Bordeaux, communicating via email, to create this record. LPS founder Assaf, first encountered Andrew in the local Berlin scene and was astonished by his eclectic variety of electronic music; the type of art that fits the label like a glove. Beyond their sonic adventures, the duo inspired Assaf to rekindle his ‘not so hands-on’ virtues and express visual reverence, creating the album’s artwork.
