4hrs of mixes again? Is that the new standard for 2023? We're super excited to welcome Catalan artist ABSIS on Crescent with one unique kind of journey.
 
ABSIS is Salva Coromina, a regular DJ on the Barcelona scene since the late 90s under the alias of mouseDown/MouseUp, was a resident DJ at The Loft and a regular at Sonar for many years. He has always been exploring the deeper face of electronic music moving from ambient to techno. We can find some of his productions on the Hivern Discs label.

Clear as spring water, the memory of Shoal's beautiful live set echoing through the Norwegian mountains, finally sharing the stage together at Monument (@monument-podcast) after meeting in Amsterdam several years ago. Those familiar with our dear friends at Harmony Rec (@harmony-rec) will be undoubtedly familiar with Kenny's impeccable body of work, and for the rest an eye-opening treat awaits. Here, Kenny gathers highlights from his recent live sets and newly recorded material, arranged and refined into a perfect contemplation of the crisp arboreal air, a vivid composition of body and sound entwined tightly beneath the earth. An artist’s dedication to their craft is usually what separates the wheat from the chaff, and our next guest is a perfect example of this. Mary Yuzovskaya made a name for herself in the mid-2000s by showcasing a deep passion for vinyl, with her razor-sharp precision mixing resonating throughout Berlin and beyond. Since then she has come a long way, relocating to New York where she started her own Monday Off imprint and podcast to showcase the poignant psychedelia inherent to her musical world. Here she showcases the more intimate corners of her collection with the same care and attention to detail that she is known for. Perfect for riding out the last of the cold days as we wait for Spring’s warm embrace.

The cosmic wanderer Noah Lyas drifts through the void, gliding past jagged moons and frozen fire, his voice a whisper of unity in the chaos, preaching that even in the wildest corners of the universe - where stars fracture and realms twist - that all is one, and the one is all. “In embracing profound rhythms, we find harmony within ourselves and with the world around us, we will dance to the eternal song of creation.”, he claims.

Noah grew up in a house where music was the dominating factor. With passionate parents who shared a large record collection with their children and with a father as a musician, early contact with different instruments was made as well as performing arts and writing music. In 2020, his first EP titled “Before the Horizon” was released on Profundo Collective, which was founded with the aim of establishing an own record label and coming together as a collective to share the love for profound music and arts. Since then, his music has also been released on such authentic hubs as Oslated, Indefinite Pitch and Eterea.

The mix delivered is an extensive exploration of the deep, dubby and warm sides of Hypnotic Techno, featuring tracks of Noah Lyas’ himself and befriended artists alike, all mixed in a flawless manner to evoke feelings of a cosmic transport to the breathtaking beauty of the far outs.

Today's podcast is a live recording from the most recent Crescent party, held on the 1st June.

Kalumet is Zoltan Vajda from Hungary - one of the old-school storytellers of the psytrance scene. Active since the mid-90s, he’s witnessed the global rise and evolution of psychedelic music firsthand. His sets are deep, twisted journeys, shaped by decades of experience and an eclectic mix of influences - from Joy Division and Kraftwerk to Spirit Zone and global folk traditions.

Starting with guitar and bass in the late ‚80s, Kalumet’s sonic path led him through punk, industrial, techno, and psytrance. Under aliases like Ork Monk and Tiger Punch, he’s performed in unforgettable venues across the globe - from catacombs and mountaintops to jungles and beaches, and on the main stages of Ozora, Boom, Voov, and more.
