Five wonderful years have passed for Velvet Vortex and keeping in mind all the people we have crossed paths with, all the lessons we have learned and all the inspiration we have gained – it is time to open a new exciting chapter. Further information will be discovered slowly, but at this moment we are ready to present the Velvet Vortex podcast series. Another branch of VV activity responsible for spreading our passion for deep, ambitious and quality sound in modern electronic music.

We are opening the series with a recording prepared by none other than our long time friend – a skillful and well-respected dj & producer – Luigi Tozzi. His carefully curated selection deftly brings the spirit of Spring, flowing gently like a breeze. Deep, unhurried narrative lets the listener perceive more details in those layered, ethereal sounds. Luigi’s attention to detail and harmony, which he brought to Velvet Vortex events several times already, comes to light once again.

For our thirteenth installment we’ve invited Aurelius Scott, a visionary curator and music selector from Denver, Colorado. 

Aurelius has always been attracted to deeper cuts of music, fascinated by the world of rhythmic drums and hypnotic ambiance. 

in 2020 he started a series Anodynic Frequencies that is dedicated to fellow musicians with the same passion for music. Since then he has connected with many talented individuals and has had the opportunity to work with many of them through guest mixes and promotions. 

It has been through this platform that we came in contact and talked about recording a mix for Hypnosis, of which you are now listening to the end result of it.

Some words by Aurelius about this mix:
"When I was first invited to the channel I wanted to paint a dreamlike landscape. Slowly drifting into the subconscious with subtle progression and brooding low ends. Eventually leading to a feverish current of rhythmic percussion before drifting deeper and deeper with layered sounds to curate a deep state of hypnosis"

HYPNOSIS 013 AURELIUS SCOTT

Luigi Tozzi is an Italian DJ, live act and producer known for his atmospheric and immersive performances. 
He is an adroit manipulator of sounds, reflected in his productions that fall into the deeper, atmospheric areas of electronic music. They are impactful without applying force, evoking a cocoon-like sento in its listeners. 
Tozzi found his artistic home on labels like the Swedish Hypnus Records or Non-Series, where he regularly releases. 
Since his first release on Hypnus in 2014, he contributed numerous times to their catalogue and label showcases. 
His major project on the label is the "Deep Blue" album trilogy released in 2014, 2016, and 2021. 
It draws inspiration from a profound fascination with the oceanic world, a recurring theme in both Tozzi’s life and work. 
In 2023, an especially adapted ambient version of “Deep Blue” premiered in London. Tozzi's releases on Non-Series, like “Tender is the Night” (2019), “Almost Blue” (2021), and “Spiral” (2023), emphasize distinct sound elements and focus on techno with a minimalist aesthetic.

Furthermore, he contributed to a variety of labels like Mental Modern, OUTIS Music and Calipso.

Besides his work as a Live Act, DJ, and producer, Tozzi is involved in sound designs for art and film projects and is known for collaborations with other musicians and artists.

We’re two weeks away from Mostra 2025. Final prep is in full swing, and over here at Delayed, we’re marking the moment with a special one. A two-hour recording from ABSIS—Mostra resident, local legend, and someone who’s been quietly shaping his own corner of the scene for years.

This one’s from Gare Porto, aka the Portuguese tunnel—one of those rare venues where the setting does half the work. ABSIS played alongside Nico and André Cascais for one of the recent Extramostra nights, and what came out of it is something else. A deep, locked-in ride that doesn’t bother with the usual build-and-drop patterns. It’s not about reaching some peak moment—it’s about staying in the zone and letting things unfold naturally. This set is pure spiral techno—deep, hypnotic, and tunnel-vision tight. It moves with that kind of quiet intensity that sneaks up on you. No flash, no filler. Just steady pressure and perfectly measured pacing. Like being pulled along some underground Iberian rail line, eyes closed, body moving on instinct. ABSIS keeps full control from start to finish, guiding the whole thing with an ease that only comes from time and taste.

You can feel the room in the recording—the acoustics of the tunnel, the crowd syncing up, that low-end weight that holds everything together. It’s a full-on experience, even in playback. There’s something about this set that sticks with you. The way it just moves—no big drama, no gimmicks, just pure direction and control. It’s the kind of mix that makes you wish you were there… and also kind of convinces you that you were.

ABSIS doesn’t overstate anything. He doesn’t have to. He locks into a mood and stays there, pulling everyone in with him. And if this set from Gare Porto is any sign of what’s coming—then that closing slot at Vall d’Hebron is going to be serious.

About Ida:
Ida Mandate was born in a small town in Calabria in 1989. After high school, like many guys, she moved to the capital to continue her studies: here, finally away from the closed provincial mentality, and is able to express his artistic personality to bloom. Her sound refined and emotive is what characterizes every September Ranging from ambient sounds, dub techno, dark techno up to the sounds of industrial raw and violent, what we read between the lines is the telling of a story divided between two different worlds: the green landscapes of southern Italy is passed the industrial landscape of cities like Rome and Berlin, another city very dear to the artist. Music is the medium through which it is said: The console her safe haven, a place from which to protect themselves and at the same time be known by the rest of the world. Dj appreciated in the capital and followed internationally, to date he has played alongside the likes of UVB, Bas Mooy, Deepbass, Alex Dolby, Subjected and many others, always managing to make their mark.
