Dorian Gray is the reflective persona of the Italian producer and DJ Moreno Mariotti, an artist whose comprehension of techno music is a far cry from any conventions. 

Dorian’s musical craftsmanship is influenced by his interest in astronomy as well as esotericism. Trance rhythms, detailed ambient pads, and intervening acidic loops shape Dorian’s signature sound and provide a clear glance at this artist’s inspirational flow and intricate creative process. 
His work appeared on labels such as @thegodsplanet, @edit-select, @deepbass (Informa Records), @space-trax Berlin and many others. In 2020 he launched his new label DORIAN.

Podcast #185 is a very special one, coming at you from a dear friend and London’s hugely cherished, Jin Synth.

We adore Jin for her unique musical persona and magical touch in the realms of ambient, meditative, deep and stirring sounds - which this journey captures beautifully. A poignant and emotive trip, the invitation we needed to allow some ease and momentary comfort and calm to return to our hearts.

We know that techno encompasses freedom and unity, openness and connection and is a celebration of the essence of each of us, the beauty of originality, and the power of people unified by shared values and beliefs. Amidst all the pain and suffering in our world, of which we are all feeling immensely in this moment, as we try to make sense of it all - and of ourselves within it - music grounds us. We find meaning, strength and comfort in the rhythms, friends and soulmates at events, respite, refuge, love and light in all that it embodies and represents. It reminds us to look beyond the workings of the mind into the realms of true humanity, unconditional human connection,  possibility, transcendence and hope, strengthening our connection to our own truth and therefore the truth mirrored back to us by all others, if we open our hearts and minds to where it points us to.

Jin’s mix has been a much-needed reminder of the power of music and we’re honoured that this journey becomes a part of our story too.

Jin will be on opening duties at at our gathering this coming Friday the 3rd of November, bringing her ethereal and mythical sounds to The Pickle Factory.

”I recorded this mix during a particularly stressful time, while being away from home for an extended period. So the selection is focused on hypnotic and ethereal soundscapes, packing plenty of drive and energy as the mix progresses. The goal was to create a sonic force strong enough to pull the mind out of its chaotic journey through spacetime and anchor it in the familiar landscape of the body, flowing with every sensation that arise. Whether I succeeded or not is of course in the eye of the beholder, but in any case I really enjoyed the process of creating a contribution to this excellent mix series and I hope that shines through to the listener.”

'The set starts with exploring psychedelic and mystical moods and sound design. Before climbing in tempo and energy, bringing with it more intensity, while maintaining a hypnotic and psychedelic focus throughout the mix. A selection of tracks from great artists around the globe, including some old favorites as well as new discoveries. Included are two of my own productions, both are upcoming releases'.

Hydrous is Per Christian Berg. A producer, DJ and live act based in Oslo, Norway. Working within music as a sound technician/producer as well as having a number of musical projects across a wide range of styles and expressions, ranging from ambient and psychedelic rock to psy-chill and techno. 

With Hydrous, the focus and style is rooted in the hypnotic, psychedelic and atmospheric side of techno. Drawing a big part of his inspiration from nature, especially the nordic scenery, as well as meditative states. Bringing these threads of inspiration throughout his productions as well as live. 

He recently released his third EP 'Mutabor' on Charybdis as well as working with and releasing on labels such as Navigare Audio, Indefinite Pitch, Lotus Parable, Fur:ther Session, Space Textures and Soria Records.

Clarence Rise is a French deep techno producer and DJ, whose sometimes dark but always introspective music draws on his deep connection with nature and the twists and turns of the psyche. His compositions combine complex rhythmics with organic sound design, diving listeners in hypnotic, immersive soundscapes. He creates textured, crackling, sometimes syncopated techno, while also exploring the depths of Deep DnB and Tribal sounds. His work is a constant quest for raw emotion and subtle intensity, offering experiences both mysterious and captivating, shaped to resonate as much in clubs as in the intimacy of personal listening.
