"It's the result of a decade of cultivating a musical identity that focuses on hybridization, sonic recycling, and playfulness. The enigmatic title "43°C" signifies a haze of bliss (4+3=7, the producer's lucky number) backdropped by the ecological state of a world that’s grown slightly but surely warmer. In this intimate anticipation fiction, Basile3 offers a soundtrack that is an exploration of club music, electronica infused with r&b and ambient synths. The French producer warmly invites listeners to his state of mind, blooming with genre-bending floating soundscapes."

You cannot separate pleasure from pain. Grotesque drums hiss and boom inside drill’s stricture, voices utter shattered phrases to each other in a darkening chain of whispers, synthetic violins mourn their last and rush towards singularity. Drawing upon the ‘self indulgent, purple prose’ of Angela Carter, the staggering works of composers Villa Lobos and Xennakis, the fissure between pagan mysticism of England past and its feckless, soul consuming present; ‘England as a Succubus’ is a lustful spirit that writhes and vibrates against a backdrop of lurid sonic pressure. 

Raised amongst the trees of the North Dorset countryside and presently residing in Manchester, Ship Sket grapples with a frenetic and maximalist style that subverts and perverts expectations of UK bass music with equal measure.

His new EP 'England as a Succubus' will be out on 7th June 2024 on Illegal Data.

Following up from work on Björk´s 'Fossora', Icelandic trio 'sideproject' debut on SVBKVLT with their new full-length album 'sourcepond'. Taking influence from the fog-covered wetlands of their native island, sideproject transfigure influences from the low-end frequencies of grime and bass music, and reshape it into a haze of transient-smeared beats accompanied by breathy synths that grow ever wetter till they slip beneath the surface tensions of their harmonic stratum. Compared to previous output, 'sourcepond' opts for a more concise approach to their music, stacking up their influences of experimental electronic, Icelandic punk and contemporary club music, and builds a sound that oscillates between melodic hooks and experimental rhythms. Each track carves through the sensuous material, pulling the listener into the dank sourcepond as though magnetic forces were guiding a bird's beak towards misty horizons.

The 42nd release of katharsis is the collaborative album “Soft Space” by label founder jjjacob and various other artists from around the world, coming out on May 31st. The album works as a sequel to his previous full-length release "Brutal Nature" from 2022, both in terms of the collaborational dogma in production but also in the thematic connection and contrast between the brutality of nature and the softness of space. All tracks emerged as infantile jjjacob sketches, then taking more form and gaining inspirational matter from the collaborating artists' conduct and care, before finally being concluded by the final touches of jjjacob again.

The result is as the title suggests smooth and gentle at most times, but it does though have more wicked and harsh moments and aspects throughout the album. The emotional journey of the album keeps pendulating between the pleasant floating sensations of celestial emptiness and the brute mysticality of the unknown. At times it feels aerodynamic or dissolving, at others it tastes crispy and anthemic, but the overall output is definitely ethereal and cosmic.

The caustic swirl of ‘Yedora’ and ‘Foil’ are disrupted by glimmering, otherworldly transmissions, heartstopping melodic bursts breaking through like beams of concentrated light through a dark, gnarled wilderness. But it’s on ‘Rhystic Study’ and ‘Choral Chaos Re-Drum’ where the light is forged into form — d&b-inflected slappers that go off like they’re transcribed from ancient druidic runes. The road is long and perilous, so consider this album an amulet, a protective charm, a talisman. This is pathfinder music.
