He started two legendary Scottish clubs - Pure and Optimo, the latter a duo with Jonnie Wilkes which recently celebrated 25 years of global touring, outrageous parties, and communitarian activism. He produces, remixes, promotes, presents radio shows, music supervises for films and runs the hard to pigeonhole Optimo Music label.

In my 30+ years of DJing this was one of the best gigs I've ever had. Unbelievable scenes, energy and appreciation. It went off! Respect to the Do!! You!!! crew. Ransom Note’s new label Dance Music From Planet Earth have just released ‘Richard Sen presents Dream The Dream: UK Techno, House and Breakbeat 1990-1994’. The British Indian DJ/producer/record collector is a music dance music veteran with a proper heavyweight CV, whose Zelig like history goes even further back. Speaking on his Bleep mix, Richard explains: “All the tracks that I chose for this mix are from 1988 - 1995. I tried to choose tracks that were musical, deep, druggy and still rough around the edges. This is a snapshot of the kind of music I was playing back then - a personal selection of some of my faves. I'd like to think that they all stand the test of time and I still play some of them out now.”

The duo used to run the Iconic Optimo Espacio ('Optimum Space') parties at Sub Club, Glasgow and now play and release under the legendary banner.
 
In this 1-hour journey to the beach stage in Tisno, Wilkes takes us through all the emotions, from New Age to House to Reggae. Johnny’s thoughtful selection leaves us in awe as we truly appreciate his cult status as he plays homage to our home in Croatia.
