For the eight year, I’ve been putting together this mix which is a personal selection / exploration of healing and transformative music: songs that have a deep sense of spirituality without being religious in nature. A feeling that can be found in music of all genres, eras and cultures.

On a usual year anywhere on the planet, a beautiful spring morning feels like a precious gift. However these past 12 months have been anything but usual. I would like to dedicate this mix to all that have lost loved ones, faced difficulties and personal challenges.

This month’s Carhartt WIP Radio show welcomes @truepanther Records, a New York City-based label, founded in 2004 by Dean Bein and a group of friends.
 
One of True Panther Records’ earliest successes was the self-titled debut album from San Francisco band Girls, released in 2009. Over the last decade, the label has grown to represent a diverse range of sounds, spanning hip hop, indie, experimental electronic, and world music. Its roster includes Barcelona dance act Delorean, LA post-pop artist @glasser-1, and UK rapper @slowthai, as well as London singer-songwriter @king-krule – whose tracks recently featured in Carhartt WIP’s full length skate film Inside Out.
 
For this edition of Carhartt WIP Radio, Dean Bein put together a mix which drifts through dance pop, acoustic, breakbeat, and baile funk, featuring the sounds of artists like @teengirlfantasy, @kelseylu and ABRA(@darkwaveduchess). In addition to including some of True Panther’s more well-known tracks, Bein dug into the label’s archives in search of rare remixes and unreleased edits. Solid Steel (13th February)We don't know much about our guest Ross From Friends in Hour 2, except that he wasn't in a popular cafe based 90's US sitcom, but he has produced some quality music which has seen spins on Solid Steel, plus Skream and Toddla T on Radio 1. His EP Alex Brown is the first release on the Breaker Breaker record label which is out next week and he told us;
"I decided to assemble a selection of artists and labels I’m listening to at the moment, and compile my favourites of their selection. As with the Alex Brown EP, this mix is to strike particular contrasts between solo bedroom Techno binges: sludgy and reclusive, and clowning around at 5am House raves: blissful and communicative. "

In Hour 2 it's Jesse Futerman, the Canadian producer who started making music when he was 16. He recently finished recording his EP for the Sounds Of Beaubien Ouest (SOBO) imprint , where he worked with musicians, sampling their playing and assembling their sounds alongside other varying samples. Project Pablo assisted in the mixdown and the 'Waterzone' EP is released next week. He told us;
"This mix is a collection of what heavily inspired my EP. Many of these songs have been favorites since I have been a teenager and continue to touch and inspire me as time clicks on. While some may find it strange that there is no house music, most of my reference points for house oddly lie in jazz, as that is what I mainly listen to at home. Hopefully, these songs will give you the same peace and reflection that they have given me. I hope you enjoy."
