Back in 2010, Berlin-based super-producer Boys Noize aka Alex Ridha teamed up with Canadian musical genius Chilly Gonzales to produce his album, Ivory Tower. Chilly jumped on a few of his tracks in return, and they both had so much fun that they simply never stopped collaborating. Fast-forward to today and the duo’s jam sessions and lack of agenda have forced each other out of their musical comfort zones and into each other’s worlds. The result? A truly brilliant project, a stunning debut album (complete with feature from Chance The Rapper) and the ultimate musical bromance.

With the aim of creating something bigger than the sum of its parts, they challenged themselves to break away from their usual style and adopted a new name. “Calling it @Octave-Minds lets people know that we’re a new universe now,” explains Chilly. With that in mind, we are very pleased to present the very first interview with Octave Minds, along with the premiere of Rave Face, the bonus track from their brilliant eponymous album released today via @BoysnoizeRecords.

The "points" are staccato - clipped, insistent. I attempted musical pointillism with Wimbledon '80 as my backdrop. Try to imagine the waltzing B-section as the endorphins kicking in after a marathon - the transcendence of physical technique (using a racquet or a piano) into pure bliss. This could just as easily have been dedicated to Bobby Fischer, Glenn Gould or Michael Jackson's moonwalk. It all depends on your vantage point.

Surprisingly, it is Fellini Félin himself who opens this remixes EP with a rework of his title Come To The Fore, a piece that had particularly attracted the attention of the French indie planet at the release of his latest EP Temporary Fiction end of 2017.
As a desire to reinvent himself, he appropriates his own composition again in a semi-acoustic version, cradled by a modulated voice where piano notes are melting with hypnotic synth chords. Sébastien delivers here a fresh and calibrated vision of his now Fore To The Come.

The three remixes that follow are paying tribute to Fellini Félin's first love for club music.
In a style relatively close to the project, the choice of Scottish C Duncan (Fat Cat Records) was obvious. He brings here a touch of progressive synth-pop for a trip close to four minutes.
The toughest remix of this EP is signed by the pope of the cosmic Italian disco Daniele Baldelli, this revered artist in the ranks of DFA or even Gomma dynamites the original tune with a sensual and warm approach for oozing dancefloors.
Finally, behind the alias La Décadanse, the two Marseille friends Laurent Pastor and Marc Lapeyre punctuate this 4 tracks EP with a dark electronica - new wave remix.
