Disinformation was one of my first bands, we used to fool around with punk and rock, and generally have lots of fun. There are things I would do differently, but overall Let's Do It was a lot of fun to make in a short space of time. Our first and only album.
The idea was to create an album that was catchy and easily reproduced as a three-piece live, as well as easy enough for someone to pick up and jam along to at home. Whilst the sound was quite "brit rock" centric, I didn't want all the songs to sound the same, so you can hear influences of hard rock (Rebound), prog (Semaphore, Unknown), pop (Bomb, Propeller), punk rock (Money, Take it on the chin) and slightly heavier sounds (Bleed On, Munchausen).
The album was recorded in May of 2006 with myself on main vocals and guitars, Chris Heald on bass and Franco Smith on drums.

Wasted

Semaphore

The second track from Let's Do It, recorded by Disinformation in 2006. Some hard rock influences going on here, the solo was intentionally simplified but with retrospect, too much so. Looking back now, we should have had a hell of a lot of tambourine going on during the middle 8. Still fun, though.

Rebound

The third track from Disinformation's 2006 album "Let's Do It" - although a fan favourite at the time, personally I wouldn't have kept this track on the album I was doing it now.

Move It

From Disinformation's 2006 album "Let's Do It". Leaning towards the more pop side of things, this track was sandwiched between the absolutely not radio-friendly track "Wasted" and the moodier "Feud".

Propeller

Featuring a weird tempo change, this track was a lot of fun to play for the band. From Disinformation's 2006 album "Let's Do It".

Feud

A bit heavier than the other tracks, we needed something darker in the album to give it a more dynamic narrative… although to some a favourite in the setlist, this is probably the only track on the album I'm not happy with, but is here for comprehensiveness. Munchausen

From Disinformation's 2006 album "Let's Do It", the most pop-sensible track on the record, written as I recall to surprise those expecting less radio-friendly tracks from the rock scene at the time. Considered incredibly un-cool to do anything so melodic at the time… which is exactly why we did it, and intentionally positioned immediately after the proggy track Semaphore for comic effect.

Bomb

From Disinformation's 2006 album "Let's Do It", although a musician's favourite, this track was subsequently re-worked for live performances giving a much slower and heavier rendition. Watch out for the weird time signatures.

Unknown

From Disinformation's 2006 album "Let's Do It", written shortly before recording, and as one can tell from the sound of the failing voice, recorded towards the end of tracking. A fun end to the album.

Take It On The Chin

The opening track from Let's Do It by Disinformation. Intentionally written as the start of the set. Note the cool snare riffs by Franco in place of a guitar solo… who needs them!

Bleed On

I'm a songwriter, composer, guitarist, singer, Logic Pro engineer, violinist, and hurdy-gurdy player. My influences range from early plain song, polyphony and traditional european folk, to classical, rock, metal and punk. I'm no stranger to the studio or the stage, having recorded and toured extensively around the UK and Europe with various bands and groups.
