Performed on December 9, 2010 at The University of Nebraska at Kearney

Garden Lullaby (Live)

The Finale piece in a recital of original compositions on December 9th, 2010 performed at The University of Nebraska at Kearney. 

The solo piano performer is Dr. Jonathan Sokasits who freely improvised on a baby grand piano prepared with wooden objects and coins. While he was playing I was loosing the strings with a tuning hammer as a 3rd person (Mick Johnson) snapped the strings with bolt cutters. 

Once the tension had been released from the strings, Scott Casper and Jessica Sundquist proceeded to chop through the body of the instrument with reciprocating saws. Their work was backed up by a small jazz ensemble improvising a pulsating drone in the relative key of the saws.
The piano ultimately defeated the saws and had to be finished off with a sledgehammer.
