London producer @joeashworth has been on my radar for a while, with his ‘Zubr’ collaboration with Kiwi getting some heavy rotation round my way. I actually tried to sign it I think. It’s been great to see him progress, with a slew of EPs on Needwant and other releases on Anjunadeep, Holic Trax and Sneaky Music plus remixes for Shadow Child & Ben Pearce and Andre Crom in recent times. 

His sound continues to develop and branch off in different directions, and this moody new track from his ‘Braun’ EP – the first release on Glaswegian duo Mia Dora’s @poster-boy-records – is one of his most impressive to date. Taking its cues from the brooding progressive / techno sound of Life & Death et al, it dials things up to an intense energy with its shuffling rhythms, chubby arpeggiated bassline and snarling synths. It reminds me a little of early 2000s prog, in a very good way.

The intrigue gets all the more enthralling when you find out that The Dove is opening up his vaults all the way back to the filing cabinets housing the hottest secret tracks of 2012. No one else was doing rave-inspired breakbeat jams like these back then, and absolutely no one else is releasing them now. 

Time-masked identity gateways aside, this is some of Twin Turbo’s best output ever. It’s not every day a label harnesses the energies of three different eras in two high-quality digital recordings. But today is not every day.

Chambray is the alias of André Rost who has gone on to deliver some massive dancefloor heaters full of punchy house tracks such as "Anew" and "Rub". The Berlin based producer signed to Jimmy Edgar’s Ultramajic imprint back in 2014 & since 2017 he's releasing tracks independently on record-labels like Dirtybird, Unknown To The Unknown, W&O Street Tracks, &Friends and so on. As an artist and producer Chambray experimenting a lot with new sounds, song structures and workflows to develop himself. Strongly influenced by techno and ghetto house, accompanies by african rhythms, his unique dealing with staccato stabs and special placing of ad-libs makes his sound distinctive. He remixed artists like Boys Noize, Amtrac, Panteros666 (just to name a few) and collaborated with Laurent Garnier, Truncate, DJ Haus, VONDA7 & Kill Frenzy. His most memorable day in his career as musician was when he got back in 2016 a personal invitation from Richie Hawtin to perform due to his PLAYdifferently mixer launch at Boiler Room Berlin.
