In the year 2147, governments had been overthrown on an intergalactic scale, and Earth had been conquered by a mysterious alien force that had appeared in a large cube-like ship that people had begun to refer to as "The Shape". Nothing went in or out of the ship, although it had been broadcasting messages electronically in order to not only communicate, but also digitally take control of the human race.

Decoder:  Gautham Garg, better known as Decoder, is a 17 year old producer from Dallas, Texas. Inspired by the sounds of space and the deep unknown, he tries to transmit his vision of techno through sci fi and minimalist soundscapes. Some of his greatest inspirations include Jeff Mills, Terrence Dixon, Evod, Aleksi Perala, Franz Jager, and Damon Wild.

Blank Code is a Detroit, USA techno outfit that have released music by artists like Bas Mooy, Mike Parker, Brian Sanhaji, DJ Hyperactive, Drumcell, and many more.

The newest Blank Code recruit is Decoder with his 'Distant Beings' EP, a fellow American from Dallas who has gained many devoted supporters from having releases on Jeff Mills' Axis Records, Amotik Records, TWR72's Float, Edit Select Records, Molecular Recordings, and Science Cult, amongst others.

Beginning with "Missing Sector," a dystopian and airy soundscape of captivating rattlesnake hisses and muted tones of melody and suspense amidst a stuttering kick pattern.

"Strange Interaction" follows with an abstract approach overall, but using a solid, rhythmic beat as a pulsing constant. Static crackles create mesmerising textures and light tom drums are met with wandering waves of analogue whispers and skipping hats.

"Farther" introduces deep and looping modular frequencies that dance around in a sci-fi aesthetic. This sublimely hypnotic track has an ethereal quality of patience and draws influence from dubby and atmospheric styling.

Finishing with "Elevation," it instantly has an experimental vibe that seems mysterious and menacing. Cyclical mid tones create a sonic suction before phasing pulses add even more tension to this esoteric adventure.

Dallas based producer Decoder (@iamdecoder) lands on Delsin with four versatile techno interpretations. From deep and immersive techno hypnotica to emotive electro bliss. It’s a well rounded EP with some type of elegance from a young producer who seems to have been doing this for decades. Decoder’s sound palette is warm and forceful, very direct yet still sensitive.

Decoder - Anutva (DSR-C24)

Decoder is an emergent Dallas producer whose 1st appearances arrived in 2021 with a trio of albums, including Dark Shape on Mills’ mighty Axis, followed by further full lengths & numerous EPs on respected imprints such as Holland’s Float, Detroit’s Blank Code, and untouchable techno tastemakers Delsin, plus his own Toca, co-run with NYC-based Jay York, whose similarly hyperactive productivity defines their alliance. Already known across the US thanks to Hawtin’s From Our Minds tour, his worldwide notice is sure to increase with each high-profile release. From Another Star harnesses the stargazing end of his already-alien sound sphere on Vinveli, five tracks of midtempo trips saturated in extraterrestrial atmosphere.  
Cycling bleeps in ‘Gasui’ serve to enforce stasis over motion as he elegantly assembles a dynamic orbital system, with gaseous, evaporating clouds brushed aside to reveal its insistently chugging inner works. Dense, dark, and unstable, ‘Drona’ voyages through the center of a freshly-exploded supernova nebula still expanding rapidly, with deadly detritus flashing past the viewscreens. A rippling, zapping lead carves its way through the center of ‘447’, continuously assuming unfamiliar shapes while rotating elements surrounding it create organic, evolving forms. ‘Standing’ displays the pulsating, eroded tones and sparse percussion touch that defines his style, its midrange a bath of reverb wash while subtle, changeable elements intertwine. Forward movement is almost an afterthought: this is music of drift, a broken warp drive stranded in deep space while anxiety builds throughout the crew. ‘Service’ ends on a more strident tone, an eight-minute epic whose rising momentum blasts its astronauts firmly past our solar system into unsettling isolation.

The From 0-1 crew are made up from unsuspecting cities in USA such as San Francisco, Oakland and Seattle. Launching in 2008, they have featured music and remixes by artists such as Samuli Kemppi, Mike Parker, Kyle Geiger, Alex Bau, Tim Xavier and continue to impress with their steady approach.

The latest EP sees a vinyl and digital drop titled Life Under Lockdown compiling tracks from a tight bunch of serious Spanish soothsayers Kessell, HD Substance, Joton and American label head JX-216.

One half of duo Exium with Tensal, Kessell also runs the Granulart imprint and is closely affiliated with Oscar Mulero’s PoleGroup institution as well as his music hitting Developer’s Modularz and EarToGround amongst others.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his track “Decompressing” with its throbbing bassline and metallic hits creating a subsonic groove and incrementing tension. The phasers and raw textures make it a dominant ride while the compulsory built in funk makes it simply flutter with style.

Another hammer release from the Austrian label MEAT Recordings and the label boss Gerald VDH with his latest EP simply titled Martyr that includes remixes from Berlin’s Elad Magdasi and Cleric from Manchester.

Cleric has been forging his name through his distinguished cuts released on Len Faki’s Figure, Emmanuel’s ARTS, Slam’s Soma, EarToGround and his very own Clergy imprint.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his take on “Martyr” that straightens out the original’s broken beat, opting for a four-to-the-floor pattern with a driving sound from the launch. Raw and heavy, the focus is all about tough percussion with a locked in groove made by whirling textures, pumping bass and an adept industrial flair for very good measure.
