“Hello music loving Freeks.   About 10 years ago, I began working on my 7th record, ‘Home’.  It was to be the follow up to my record ‘Laugh’.  Unfortunately, the fine folks at SCI Fidelity records informed me that they weren't even close to finished pushing the ‘Laugh’ record to radio stations, and anything else that I would record would have to wait until the plan for ‘Laugh’ was done.  I was bummed…for at least a day.  

Then I got the crazy idea to do a remix of ‘Laugh’.  The label agreed, and I jumped right into sessions with a mad musical scientist (engineer, producer) named Jeff Covert.   He and I had almost completed ‘Home’ by this time, and watching him work his crazy magic with the computer made me confident that with my ideas and his computer skills, this record could be rad.  

The idea was to extract my favorite samples from the ‘Laugh’ and create new tracks around those samples.  With Dave Watts on drums and Tye North on bass, being the total badasses that they are, it was easy to find samples.  I had more than enough.  The creative process was a blast.  

The end result was a record called ‘Dance’ that I am extremely proud of and even more proud to re-release it as I originally intended for it to be heard.  The entire record as one continuous track!   And to celebrate 10 years of its existence, I am ecstatic to announce that for a very short time, you can have it…for FREE!  After that, the one track download will continue to be an option along side the cd and single track downloads at the discounted price of $6.99.  A HUGE thank you goes to SCI Fidelity Records for allowing this to happen.

Son muchos los tributos discográficos hechos a la memoria y música del gran Jimi Hendrix, unos sinceros como el fabuloso IN FROM THE STORM, y otros oportunistas como STONE FREE donde figuraban artistas que dudosamente habrán puesto un disco de Jimi en su vida (me refiero a The Cure y Seal). Este que nos ocupa es, como dicen Ustedes por allá en España, La Hostia !.
Uno de los mejores que haya yo escuchado y mi favorito indiscutible. Los autores de semejante maravilla son un trío que en los 90 se dio a la tarea de sacudir el circuito de clubes y pequeños teatros de Chicago bajo el nombre de MST. ¿ Sus integrantes ?, pues nada más y nada menos que el legendario baterista y recientemente fallecido BUDDY MILES junto al guitarrista KEVON SMITH y al bajista JOE THOMAS, ambos veteranos de la escena musical de Chicago y con un curriculum como autores, session men y acompañantes más que respetable.
Su incendiario directo les hizo salir de gira por varias ciudades de EUA y dar en 1.995 un saltito a Europa, participando en el New Morning Rock Heroes Festival en Ginebra, Suiza y su actuación está contenida en este CD. Algo curioso al repasar el setlist es que se incluye una sóla canción de Hendrix, una poderosa versión de RED HOUSE y espero que este no sea motivo para desanimar a los fans de Jimi a la hora de bajarlo pues, repito, este es uno de esos discos que al final te quedas con la boca abierta y con ganas de volver a presionar Play. Y es que aquí más que un tributo a las canciones de Jimi Hendrix lo que se celebra es el espíritu de la música misma, dónde la creatvidad y la calidad no tienen porqué ir divorciadas de la diversión, y en eso tanto Jimi como el propio Buddy Miles fueron dignos representantes; un espíritu que pareciera haberse ido, espantado por el marketing descarado, MTV, VH1 y demás bodrios mercantilistas. ¿ Quieres saber a qué suena ?, pues bájalo y descúbrelo tú mismo, seguro terminarás agregándolo a tu rotación de música junto al legendario "BAND OF GYPSYS".
