"Dear Momma" comes forth with the intention of shining the spotlight on Ray Anthony's personal struggle in his upbringing as a child. Also offering a perspective on the same struggle found reflected in the mothers of his own children. While also paying homage to mothers who have felt the pain of losing their own beloved children whether through death or incarceration. Ray Anthony proudly admits that this song may have been influenced by the early work of the late great Tupac Shakur also entitled "Dear Momma".
"I've had a lot of pain I've dealt with my entire life. Just like so many others have," says Ray Anthony "And while, It's not something I was aiming for, as I began writing it, the music just felt like it would be that kind of song." "I knew it would be something that people from all walks of life could relate to and see it speaking about their own personal struggle as well. That's what I wanted it to be."
