I despise my voice with a passion, but hopefully you all (and especially Valérie) will enjoy this. I've been wanting to sing more, but ugh... I don't like my voice! Also... this is the first song I've made, where I didn't use auto tune.

beyond the winding road

I was working on a background track for the co-op series that adam and I will be doing, but ended up getting sidetracked and made this... lol. 

I thought it turned out pretty cool so, enjoy (:

sunday morning

The potential backtrack to the series that Adam and I will be doing.

THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A LOOP. So if it sounds a bit odd in the beginning, or how it ends, well... now ya know.

This is about 15 bpm less than sunday morning. Took the same drums, but added a few things. Redid all the melodies and layered the bass. I think it sounds pretty cool, yo.

And regarding "sunday morning" this one took 30 minutes to make.

This was the original direction that I was going to go for, with the EP. But I could never figure out how to finish this song, so I got discouraged and gave up :(

Nonetheless, the new direction that the EP is headed in now, wouldn't work well with this song. That is why I cut it, and put it up on here for all of you to (hopefully) enjoy.

Context:

Asleep, dreaming, on a wintry night in 2011, bundled up in the bed of my Brooklyn apartment.

That's when and where I made this song. I remembered the soundtrack to my dream so vividly that when I woke up in the middle of the night, I got out of bed to recreate what was to become the beginnings of "Carlin Dream." It makes me wonder what buried corner of consciousness that melody came from, and why these sort of things come to people while they sleep. This isn't the first time I've dreamed of a melody and turned it into a song later.  I guess it's not totally crazy that we can dream music though: where do melodies come from while we're awake anyway? I'd bet it's the same place. 

As for this piece, I recently stumbled across the original music files and decided to build on that 3am stream of consciousness to finish it here, one year later.

"8-Bit Lebowski: 100% Electronic” is a tribute to several seemingly unrelated entities that are, individually, quite important to me: chip music, one of the greatest films of all time, White Russians, flamenco re-arrangements of classic rock tunes, fake pornos, Kenny Rogers, and so much more. Although I originally performed these songs as a one-off live set at Lebowski Fest Philadelphia 2011, I quickly realized that taken as a whole, they actually make up quite a comprehensive little release. I feel like it really ties my discography together. 

So, in honor of the movie's 15th anniversary (the very date of this EP's release!), here you have it, to listen at your own leisure, whether through your car’s tape deck (provided it’s not stolen), with your significant other (provided she’s not kidnapped) or during a chilled-out rug meditation session (provided the rug, also, is not stolen). Best of all, it’s not, ugh, techno-pop.

Simple acoustic song

Dylan Bailey, who goes under the alias iamsleepless, is an electronic musician from Fernandina Beach, Florida. He has been bedroom producing for years, but recently started playing live and expanding his sound. His early works are mainly instrumental, but he has started to include more singing in his latest singles.
