It all started with pen and paper. Writing poetry was Sam Honaker III’s first step in expressing his feelings through art. His mom’s unused guitar and dad’s unplayed piano called upon Sam’s young soul. This melodic endeavor was the foundation of what IAmSoLoco embodies today. As he continues to make music, his influences peak through more and more. Artists like Eminem, Post Malone, and Russ, all contribute to IAmSoloco’s sound.  

He is a self-taught rapper, singer, songwriter, engineer, and producer. Over the course of 10 years he has created a unique genre of his own. This Michigan born and raised bearded man is a one-of-a-kind story teller. His most magnificent goal is to change the world with his music, which is a mission he has already accomplished tracks like “Bassline Melly,” and “Ok Boomer.” While his bold creativity takes over, you can relax till Friday. Keep your eyes wide open as this boundless, refreshing new artist, releases a new song each Friday.

Currently in MA Prison. Retrospect Deez found himself immersed
in music early on in life in Worcester, MA. Playing in metal bands for a
handful of years eventually evolved into something more. Something he
could truly make his own; rapping. He found himself coming alive as he
started to pen rhymes that expressed various aspects of himself. Come
2020 he dropped a pair of EPs as well as his current single, “Privilege.”
With a background in rock music, Retrospect Deez’s vocals come from a
punk place and make themselves at home in a modern hip hop realm on
his current releases. Inspired by the likes of the late Mac Miller, and
Blackbear this emerging artist brings a myriad of topics to the table in his
music. ‘/Error/ features the likes of “Cold Heart,” a song about the world
ignoring your potential and not realizing it until it’s too late. It is a sentiment
so many underdogs in their line of work could relate to. His second release
of 2020, ‘/.System/r.Exe//’ continued with the theme of reflecting on one’s
self-worth with “Sundown,” and even got into relationship issues with “I’d
Wait.” Both albums, as well as his latest single “Privilege”, are available
now on all major music and streaming sites.
Over the past five years, Retrospect Deez has been able to build his name
up playing various venues throughout the Massachusetts area such as The
Middle East, The Raven, and Electric Haze. On top of that, he has
impressed not only his own audiences but those of Stevie Stone of Strange
Music when he opened for Stone. He plans to get back on stage as soon
as live music is deemed safe again for him and his fans. With plans up in
the air as far as live shows go in 2020, Retrospect Deez is still pushing
forward with plans to release an album later this year.
