"This mix is inspired by life on a microscopic scale. I drew from two different topics I have been reading about over the past year or two, the first being moss & lichen, and the second being quantum physics. Robin Wall Kimerer’s writing on moss introduces the reader to a tiny world teeming with life beyond our vision, and Carlo Rovelli’s writing on quantum physics attempts to help us understand the minute & strange fabric from which reality is theoretically woven. 

The word subtle can be read as describing something delicately complex & understated, as well as something arranged in an ingenious & elaborate way. Thus, the plane of subtle form paints an image of the intricate realm of the minutiae. Moving through rainforests of moss and gorges of bark, the mix traverses this infinitesimal yet vast expanse. Becoming gradually more abstract towards its centre, things break down completely at a moment of quantum instability, a leap between one state and the next. We emerge into a new place in an instant and continue forth into the strange & unpredictable beauty of our natural world." 

Bio: Born in London & having lived in Bristol, James Laing aka Night Garden draws from the sounds of those two cities, alongside musical knowledge gained during his classical compositional training. With releases on Melifera, Bahn, Indefinite Pitch & Breatice M's hybrid Dubstep label, Bait, Night Garden aims to create richly psychedelic & hypnotic pieces which combine modern sound design with classical theoretical concepts. 

Night Garden is a musical project embodying an imagined space between our conscious reality & the land of dreams. It is a liminal point in space & time; a home to drifting forms & sounds unknown. Suspended in a twilight haze, its nebulous inhabitants float into distant obscurities, shedding ephemeral traces from their transient skin.

For this week's podcast, we want to welcome Cobahn a warm and charismatic face in nightlife. Cobahn recorded this mix inspired by Göbekli Tepe, a forgotten holy site that evokes a sense of mystery and timelessness. Its design hints at profound cosmological beliefs, marking one of humanity’s earliest connections with something beyond the visible world.

The rhythms undulate like distant echoes from a forgotten age, and the atmosphere brims with a weight that feels both sacred and raw. Layers of texture drift like mist, shifting between the tangible and the surreal, as though into a primordial world where ritual and mystery still dwell in the ancient stones and soil. Built around 85 BPM, the mix flows with half-time beats and liquid drum & bass, capturing the pulse of an ancient realm.

The creativity of Forest On Stasys is Influenced by tribal minimalist techno in the nineties and the deepest and most abstract techno currently. In his tracks the most seductive elements are the use of resonant basses perfectly combined with long and reverberated pads, extensive sonorous landscapes that are modified by continuous movement of LFO, solid grooves and strident percussions.

But not everything that comes out of his head is created with an intention to be used on the dance floor. He has a great admiration for drone and ambient tracks, without a rhythmic pattern that predominates, where the main factor is to captivate the listener with melodies that can be marked by a strong melancholy or with notes that give a certain feeling of satisfaction depending on his current mood.

At the beginning of 2019, he released his first  work 'A Vision Of Light' in Danza Nativa, where currently he is one of the pillars of the label based in Buenos Aires.
