We blinked and it’s been four years since Ilario Alicante’s last EP on Drumcode. Back in 2017, he contributed the excellent four-tracker ‘Figures & Echoes’, but has
never been far from Adam Beyer’s mind, having regularly played alongside one another at Cocoon Ibiza. The Italian’s stripped back sound gets under your skin, both purposeful and hypnotic. With ‘Rave Soul’, he’s added extra colour to the palette, imbuing the work with bags of sentimentality and jubilation as we collectively return to the dancefloor.

The EP opens with ‘Rave Atlas’, which is propelled by plenty of old school effects and a dynamic vibe. ‘Again’ asks “who were you with last night” and packs a trippy after-hours energy. ‘Rave Soul’, continues with the throwback style of ‘Rave Atlas’ and hammers like a 90s warehouse party, driven by insistent piano stabs.

Industrialyzer drops ‘Snake Whisperer’ on Rekids, backed with two Radio Slave remixes.

Industrialyzer, real name Ricardo Rodrigues, is a Lisbon-born, Amsterdam-based DJ and producer who has released music on the likes of Ben Sims’ Symbolism, Tronic, Suara, and his Groove Matters imprint, under both his Industrialyzer alias as well as one half of The Advent. Arriving on Radio Slave’s Rekids for the first time, the DJ/producer delivers one hard-hitting original track backed by two stellar remixes from the label boss.

The original mix of ‘Snake Whisperer’ leads the release, bringing floaty bleeps, pounding drums, and grinding synths across the A-side. For the first of his remixes, Radio Slave extends elements of the original into a 10-minute trip with hypnotic low-end colliding with razor-sharp percussion. Rounding out the release is Radio Slave’s ambient version, which sees the Rekids head honcho stripping all percussion and emphasising the gorgeous pads and vast, reverberant atmospherics.

The legendary Tony Rohr graces Phobiq with his presence and offers two tracks alongside his new partner-in-crime Layton Giordani. 
 The EP starts out with the sparse arrangement of &#8220;Careless Suggestions&#8221;, driven by a locomotive bassline and grinding rhythm section. Moody stabs reinforce the bleak vibe, and the vocals coming at us from otherworldly black holes only add to the mood. Label boss Sasha Carassi steps up for the remix in his trademarked stomping style, making use of hypnotic elements and the busy claps from the original. Industrial-sounding hi-hat action drives his interpretation all the way home, after an apocalyptic breakdown, of course. 
 On &#8220;Reggae Shiz&#8221; things are more stripped-down with bare drums holding everything together, as the rest of the arsenal slowly builds around menacing chords and a rocksteady groove. Behind the spotlight, liquid bass comes together with quirky percussion to complete this almost-10-minute-long opus. Dema maintains a sublime, shadowy mood in his version but opts for busier hats and heavier usage of chords.

Its been a hectic summer as always for MOOD boss Nicole Moudaber. Her relentless touring schedule has seen her ruling the dancefloors of every continent. On the release front she&#8217;s fresh from unveiling her astonishing rework of Carl Cox&#8217;s Kommen Zusammen, which has proved to be a festival favourite throughout the summer season. For her new release she returns home, for the first time since April&#8217;s See You Next Tuesday ep, with the devilishly groovy The Whippin&#8217; I&#8217;m Dishin&#8217;. 

Nicole&#8217;s original sees her take a step back from the full throttle techno-tilt, creating a relaxed-yet-locked groove that swings throughout whilst kicking up a gear in its final third. Ramping things up in style is Gary Beck, who pairs the the primitive rolls of the bongo&#8217;s against a relentless and industrial soundtrack before tech-maestro Robert Dietz takes over to inject a little more bass-weight groove, expanding the kick drum and dancing on the Hi-Hats.

Frazier is a name a lot of big acts got familiar with last year, with his material getting played across major festivals, club nights - Drumcode radio show's and so fourth, the awareness was present for sure. Releasing on Pan Pots Second State, Carl Cox's Intec & Sleaze Records, you can expect to see his work on some of the biggest labels in Europe. After being tipped by Mixmag as an artist to watch out for in 2018, the 23 year old kickstarts the year with a 12 track album!

With past releases on Unrilis, Odd Recordings and Adam Beyer’s renowned Drumcode imprint, his new single 'Aurora' on Alan Fitzpatrick's We Are The Brave label is a trance-inspired techno driver with a pragmatic and rousing demeanor.
