I had a super fun many hour looping jam with Laura at her house in Austin, recording her playing vibraphone, singing, melodica etc.... I took one jam and massaged it into this track. around the time I was working on it I met Xenophone, I invited her over to record some vocals and ended up chopping up her alien voice vibes for the chorus.

This cover of "Baltimore" by Xenophon is a retrospective tribute to Freddie Gray and the events that transpired in Baltimore in 2015. 

One year ago on April 19th, 2015 Freddie Gray died due to injuries sustained while in police custody. The injustice of Freddie's death instigated wide-spread protests, which began peacefully but on April 25 turned violent leading to rioting and looting. 

The song "Baltimore", originally written by Randy Newman, was made famous by Nina Simone, a prolific singer and artist and outspoken civil rights activist.

Baltimore

This song was written after a long night of partying, alcohol and drugs in the streets of Paris, France.  I was taken to this underground cave-like night club in the Latin district of the 5th area of Paris.  My friend Hayat is somewhat of a maniac when it comes to music and dancing!  Something takes over her spirit and she is all of a sudden possessed by the music and cannot stop dancing wildly to the beat.  She flings her hair back and forth and rotates her hips in an almost hypnotic fashion, kind of as if she was high off of some sort of drug.  Fact of the mater is that she was high off life and off the sound.. you could say that she was ADDICTED 2 THE DANCE FLOOR!!
