A song for Silja who, in whichever dimension she finds herself, still needs a certain solitude which she calls Siljatude

Silja's Song Of Solitude

A composition that came into being when I came across the photo used in the artwork which was taken by my friend Alison some years ago, before lockdown in the years BC*

It was taken in a coffee shop in town where I would go each day and meet with friends who were fellow creatives - writers, actors, filmmakers, musicians and the like - a place where many projects were planned; some even came to fruition but many remained dreams.

In this composition, I have taken the liberty of transferring the coffee shop in question from the high street of a town in the north west of England to somewhere like the left bank of the Seine and draped myself in the disguise of a French composer, someone like Michel Legrande perhaps; anyhow, the composition is dedicated to my fellow dreamers and the intangible wispiness of the dreams we dreamed … and for the lucky few of us, the dreams that still continue to form amongst the croissant crumbs with each passing espresso 

*BC: before cancer - during lockdown I received my diagnosis and when I returned some years later many of the people I knew had moved on. I do occasionally arrange to meet some of the old - now older - faces, and it remains a real joy to do so ❤️ॐ

Coffee Shop Of Dreams

A day or so ago I heard a song by the brilliant Elle Cordova & Toni Lindgren about being stuck in Roswell, NM while their van was repaired and it reminded me of this, my only foray into American country-type music. It’s a piece from 2022/2023 although I did release a version in 2024, but decided it was worth a revisit. 

It was dedicated to Rachel, Nevada, the nearest settlement to Area 51 and to the regulars at The Little A'Le'Inn - cheers guys!
