Back Again (Original Mix)

Hey guys. 
A while ago i got the stems for the original track "Blind" by Fleur. 
Although i didn't listen to the full original track i loved the vocals in the sections i did listen to. So, i decided to do a synthwave remix using only the vocal stems. The rest is all mine.

Here's the final version, on the youtube link below you'll see i've added video with clips from the 1987 film Mannequin starring Andrew McCarthy & Kim Cattrall to add to the retro vibe.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to this mix.

This is a recording of a live stream i did on Mixify yesterday.
It was an event hosted by Raggydoll, who set it up for me. I just turned up and did the mix for her.

It's a full on retro 80s feel, with loads of tracks i remember from growing up in the 80s, i'm sure you'll remember lots of these too if you were around then.

For me i wouldn't of even got back into mixing/DJ'ing if it wasn't for alot of the people that re-edited these tracks your listening to here. I gave DJ'ing up years ago. I had grown very bored with house, trance, prog and funky, i'd played those styles of music for too long. 

By chance a while ago however i came onto soundcloud randomly and started looking for some old stuff 80s tracks. I was lucky enough to land on a mix produced by a guy called "80s Child" who i now know as Danny.

When i listened to his mix, it literally blew me away, i had no idea people were taking old 80s tracks and editing them, and making them club-ready, to be mixed properly etc.

Since then, ive found other people that do exactly the same, and got to know some of them, people such as Wonkar (thanks for the Ableton help m8), The Reflex, Rayko, Dr Packer, Shit Hot SoundSystem and the Groove Motion guys. All top class people with serious skills for this sort of stuff. 

They're all here on soundcloud if you've not heard their stuff, i recommend you go check them ALL out :)

Welcome to my latest mix, live streamed last night on Mixify.com

I found myself a little bored so thought i would throw the decks on and play some funk & disco. Some proper funkeh! attitude going on will a few of these tracks in the first hour :)

In the second i change the tempo up a bit generally, but i have to finish on a classic from probably my favourite band, Chic, courtesy of a certain Dimitri From Paris re-edit.

I've also included tracks by 78 Edits, The Reflex, Disco Tech, Fingerman, LNTG, Coutel, and in particular a wonderful rework of a Nicolette Larson track called Lotta Love, from 1978 i believe, reworked brilliantly by Vinyl Addicted & Jean Claude Gavri, blew my socks off when i first heard it :)

Funkeh Discoteque Vol 1

Howdy all.

This is my latest mix, streamed live on mixify.com on Saturday night.

I fancied a bit of a change this time, so, i got hold of all my old tracks i used to DJ with back in the 90s in the clubs, all vinyl :)

These are the tracks i used to practice learning how to beatmatch with, back when there were only Technics 1210s and no such thing as sync :P

This was a real trip down memory lane for me, i havent heard, or played any of these tracks for well over 10 years, if not more. I had a smile on my face all the way through this mix, hopefully for those of you that remember back to those times you will too :P

Ive included such tracks as Sandy B, Gat Decor, a few from Deep Dish (look out for Stay Gold with Tracey Thorn on vocals) & especially Una Mas - I Will Follow, that track used to blow the roof off clubs when i dropped that, biggest tune i had at the time - that particular track is my "Highlighted Track" of the mix, so listen out for it.
Ive also included Chubby Chunks - Testament One as the final track of the mix, i heard DJ Lottie play that a long long time ago in a club and it blew me away when i heard it :)

80S Rewind Vol 2

Howdy guys.

Heard this track for the first time in ages the other day, forgot how good it was.

Thought i'd have a go at messing with it, and this is the result :)

Made it DJ friendly, speeded it up slightly, beefed up, had fun with some filters and added a bit of fluff. Only had the 3 minute version to use so was a bit limited with clean sections i could use. Wanted to extend it to a 5-6 minute version.

I'm excited to finally get this mix published! It's taken a little while to get it finished but here it is, a collaborative back to back mix with a mucka of mine Brian, you guys would know him as Pyperb - here's his Soundcloud profile:-

For those of you that aren't familiar with him, we've got to know each other through here for a while now and regularly listen to, and repost each others' mixes and tracks. 

We have a similar sort of taste musically so i thought it would be a good idea to try and "back to back" mix like i used to do years ago when we all used Technics decks, a mixer and nothing else :)

So this is the result, this is a mix where we play a track each and go back and forth between us rather than say half an hour each.

We're pretty happy with it and it was fun to do :)
