Assigned with the task of reshaping one of Conclave’s most kinetic tracks, Love Injection Fanzine/Records extended family members Craig Handfield and Brandon Weems of musclecars’s “Alati Yeye Chege (Remix)” shrewdly emphasizes the soulful intimacy at the heart of the original. Gradually building from congas, the duo unfurls a joyous and percolating four-on-the-floor groove, piano and synth lines nimbly darting about Cesar’s layered vocals with the finesse of the dancers it will surely inspire. Best of all, though, is a surprise false ending that gives way to an exhilarating coda – an eruption of percussion and flute that closes out the track.

Last January’s Diogo Strausz 7″ Emancipacao was one of the stand-out moments of 2021 depite coming only a few days into the year.

Now Razor-N-Tape and Diogo have revisited the release, this time on 12″ with extended versions of both sides of the 7″ Emancipacao and 50 Anos Em 5. Taking things a step further they have also drafted in Chicago legend Ron Trent on remix duties for Emancipacao. As we always now expect from Ron, he has crafted a wonderful remix utilising the incredible musicianship of the original and adding in tribal drums and layers of percussion to take this one off to the finest club floors in 2022 and well beyond.

I didn't know how I would present myself after not having proper rest for a few days. It was making a composition on my laptop to express myself that helped start me to come to peace in my mind.

Bicoastal disco aficionado, Super Elevation label/shop owner, and all-around legend of the scene, Tom Noble brings forth a sprawling project 15 years in the making with his House of Spirits full length LP on Razor-N-Tape.

Slow-cooked over more than a decade, the eight tracks that stretch across this double 12” pack are the realization of Tom’s unique vision of modern dancefloor soul, with lush live instrumentation and deviously catchy hooks. Boasting a near encyclopedic knowledge of decades of club music, Tom draws on influences like Patrick Adams & the Mizell Brothers to build a sound that’s both reverent to the past, but feels extremely fresh and immediately timeless.

The lead off singles ‘Times Are Changing’ and ‘Please Take Me There’ and respective remixes by Harvey Sutherland, Makez and Sizmo have already garnered huge support, and ‘Holding On’ the beloved original House Of Spirits single from 2020 appears with a shiny new mix. I have many stories to tell. I express most of my sentiment through rhythm and sound. To me there is a refined way to do all things. Though many may not take the route of refinement my connection to Oshun will not allow anything else. For me music is the purest and highest form of communicating love, pain,and progress. I recently went through a painful experience that brought about a new level of power and reason that I put to verse and rhythm. This lamentation will be the first single from my new Album "Romantic Flight". For some reason I just could not finish it before, now I know why.

Ron Trent "You'll Never Find" Snippet  LT version Romantic Flight Album "True Story"

Another Ibadan Records improv session with alluring Brazilian flavour.
Jerome Sydenham, Joe Claussell (Body & Soul) and Kerri Chandler produced this cover version of Milton Nascimento’s Brazilian folk song, featuring the distinct vocal sample from the public domain version. Guitarist Stephen Ulrich’s interpretation of Brazilian guitar was simply improvised on-the-fly over the rhythms. It is his completely spontaneous approach to a well-known musical style that makes the record so unique, giving it an irresistible allure that made it the record of the night back in the days of powder and wooden dance floors.
