‘Ostgut Ton | Fünfzehn + 1’ is a commemorative compilation celebrating 16 years of Ostgut Ton – and the first glimpses of light at the end of a long dark tunnel for parent club Berghain.

Originally planned for release in 2020, the music focuses on the interwoven nature of the label and the club in its multitude of different spaces and musical facets. Ostgut Ton artists and close affiliates worked together in pairs to make music dedicated to five different floors, each represented by a specific 12" vinyl. The result is a diverse selection of sometimes functional, other times more abstract sonic tributes; musical homages to spaces they have both influenced and been influenced by.

With the pandemic having forced the club to close temporarily, the collaborative nature of the 5x12" boxset represents an attempt to transcend varying degrees of isolation and to wrestle with memories of music and space that had been inaccessible. But certainly not forgotten.

A brazen complex 4 tracker to launch Ibadan Records into 2014.

The title track 'Black Jerusalem', a collaboration between Jerome Sydenham and Ibadan Records latest talent dujour Sally, launches Ibadan Records into year 19 of existence. This sophisticated Tech-House exposition is a broiling example of the beats, rhythms and pace to be expected from this dynamic duo.

'Mainline' is the second installment of Ibadan Records 'Editopia' series (with Carl Craig's 'Angel' being the first). On this edit extravaganza Jerome Sydenham teams up with Rebecca Rotlicht for dissection duties. The result being a dark dubbed out Techno-vigorated all purpose refurbishment of Robag Wruhme's remix of Brendon Moeller's classic 'Mainline'.

DJ Karizma's remix of DJ Spen's 'Heavenly' gets an exuberant touch by Jerome Sydenham for the 'Editopia' cause. The result is a classic definition of modern brazen Deep House.

'X-Ova' brings back together the team of Ibadan Records artist Aschka and Jerome Sydenham. The track is built around a sample of the classic 'Minus' by Robert Hood. No time is wasted infusing the rhythmic spirits of Detroit with groovy electronica overtone resulting in a spirited Deep-Techno-House experience. Fresh for 2014!

Rydim is a mystery. Well, partly… One thing that isn’t a mystery is the high level of acid house authenticity at play here. Dark, heads-down strobe light seduction with the focus squared firmly on the soul of the dance. 

‘FOMO’ lives up to its name thanks to some ominous reese craft. Purring savagely throughout the track, leaving space for the sinewy 303s to dance wildly, it sucks you right in and spits you back out into the lasers at speed. Miss it, miss out. 

Don’t miss either Johannes Albert’s remix or the Bass Tool either; the former maintains the acid but re-shapes the bass into a warmer vibe while the latter strips everything back to that growing, heated bassline. Both will leave everyone in the house happy…
