A poet of the uneasy love and truth, Joule performs both songs and poetry inspired by her life as a homesteader/gypsy wanderer/horse lady.  Moved by love and loss, trials and triumphs (with no shortage of humour in her musings) she delivers honestly and passionately with (or without) the accompaniment of a black Takamine acoustic guitar. 

Growing up in the northern boreal forest near Big River, SK, not far from the Ness Creek festival site (sometime before the birth of the festival), Joule spent her life on horseback in the wilderness until moved by family politics at the age of 9, when her life became a journey of trying to find her way back home. Always returning for the festival since its conception, she muses that it has been the most consistent thing in her life, and so considers it "home", the place where she is from, the place which, above all others, has moulded her.  

Driven to music for love of lyrics and guitar for love of her father and envy of her brother, she picked up a six string and never looked back.  With over 30 songs in her portfolio she started recording in the spring of 2011 and will be releasing an independent album in the coming months.  In the summer of 2011 she performed at the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Festival near Big River, Sk.

Joule has been performing poetry unaccompanied since September 2010.  She has embraced it with fervour, competing consistently in the top 3 at poetry slams, and was a finalist for the 2011 Saskatoon Slam Poetry Team. She has hosted Poetry circles in rural towns and at the Ness Creek Festival in 2011
and 2012.
