Fortunate to meet and attend a talk by Dr Ang Swee Chai @ National University of Singapore  , on her experiences in the Sabra-Shatila massacre during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon (1982)

Bio of Dr Ang Swee Chai
* Born in Penang, Malaysia (1948) but raised in Singapore
* Studied at Kwong Avenue Primary School, Raffles Girls' School, and National University of Singapore (medicine)
* Earned a master's degree in Occupational Medicine (1976)
* Became the first female consultant orthopaedic surgeon at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London 
* Responded to a call for medical personnel in war-torn Lebanon (1982)
* Witnessed the Sabra-Shatila massacre during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon (1982)
* Testified about the massacre to the Israeli Kahan Commission (1982) and the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission (2013)
* Co-founded the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians with her husband and friends (after the 1982 massacres)
* She has spent more than 40 years working in war and conflict zones including the refugee camps of Lebanon and later for the United Nations in Gaza and World Health Organisation in the West Bank. 
* She was inducted to the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame in 2016 and was awarded the Star of Palestine, the highest award for service to the Palestinian people. 
* Author of "From Beirut To Jerusalem" - on her experiences as a doctor in war torn Lebanon 
in 1982 to treat the wounded and dying.
