Takahama Kyoshi was a Japanese poet active during the Shōwa period of Japan. He was the editor of the haiku magazine Hototogisu (previously edited by Shiki), where he promoted a more traditional style of haiku, as opposed to other popular schools which did not follow the pattern of seventeen syllables at that time.

Kyoshi also highlighted the symbolic function of the kigo (the seasonal reference), even though the more modern trends were already tending towards seasonless haiku.

An unedited take, long after midnight, during a night of strong winds and sporadic rain: before, during, and after a brief shower of rain on a brushed galvanised iron sculpture of flowers beside a railway station. The background drone resonance in the iron is produced by the action of the wind. Recorded with a pair of Geophons into a MixPre-6.

It’s a Monday and you’re sitting in your office typing away, and there’s plenty to listen to, but why not whip up a quick little reworking of a loop from the FM3 Chan Fang Buddha Machine that someone recently sent to you as a gift? (Audio processed in VCV Rack. Buddha Machine audio inputted into a MacBook via an Edirol UA-25EX audio interface.) And a side note: SoundCloud shows this track as having been "mastered," but that's not the case. I did experiment with the built-in SoundCloud mastering option, applying the "Aurora" version, but it ended up too shrill for my ears. The ringing in particular sounded like a fire alarm was going off the whole time, so I replaced it with the original.
