Et Datem Illi Honorem.
And like a deity it emerges
steaming.
La sciara, the lava tongue
invading slowly. The heat.
This coloniser elevates fertility.
It takes hold of its land
deliberately submissive.
Reciproco restare.
Is there any discontinuity
between longing and grief?
If only we could fear God.'
