We have some new heat from Kajunga Records co-founder Private Guy ready to stream. Liquid Sun, The Minneapolis-based producer and ceramicist’s debut EP, drops digitally and on wax next week. 

“Zipperworld” is a slow burn, like that last log on the final bonfire of the season. Dynamic, locked in, wavy, and versatile, Liquid Sun's B1 has a long shelf life. Alex says his ideal deployment of the track comes early in the day and under the sun. He sees it being played when you're “getting ready to get down, afternoon style, sort of a beach party...I can definitely see it in a spacey house sort of setting...it feels very much like bringing you on an adventure.” As a long and cold winter begins to set in, we hope we’ll get to hear it played out long before we make it back to the beach.

Sarvesh Ramprakash (aka Icarus Redux) takes the reins for episode two of the Nemeth Home Deliveries: Soundscapes series. In this mix, the Minneapolis-based DJ contemplates the dramatic, grounding, and somewhat melancholic effect that autumn has on the northern Midwestern landscape.

In 12 years as a DJ, Associate built his reputation on versatility. In his early days, he played Detroit House to get opening gigs all the while collecting his beloved techno and playing it for several people in the basement of the 9:30 club. Those heads noticed and in short order, he joined Vague Output in Baltimore and Sequence in DC. With Sequence, he fully realized the stresses and satisfaction that come with immersion in all night parties at warehouses in a major US city. He heard adulation from his sets for DVS1, Erika, BMG, and DJ Stingray as often as he heard the brusque instruction of a policeman or fire marshall. Through it all he clings to this underground music and passion for his latest adventure, Midwest Plenty. Under this name, he invites fellow midwest DJs who march under the radar and keep the underground alive. 

Midwest Plenty aside, Associate holds a monthly at Eaton Radio where he invites local electronic music artists of all genres. Again, his versatility is on full display from month to month while he plays warmup for his talented guests. Over the last few years, he seeks to leave his own mark, creating mindbending mixes, like this installment for R&D, along with his own productions he started early in March 2020. In keeping his midwest politeness, Associate appreciates listens and feedback and of course thanks the R&D crew and Furtive for inviting him.
