Dub Is Still Dead

Swedish rock band REACH is reaping radio success both at home and throughout Europe

Supporting H.E.A.T. during a wildly successful tour though Europe in 2022, Stockholm based rock-trio REACH played their latest album "The Promise of a Life" live for the first time in front of ecstatic crowds! Now, the trio is back with more thrilling tales in brand new full length album "Prophecy", set to be released in March of 2024.

The new album campaign got off to a flying start with heavy rotation on its first single "Mama Mama" at Radio Bob, one of Germany's 10 biggest radio stations broadcasting in Hesse, NRW and Schleswig Holstein, and reaching over 500k listeners per hour and up to 3 million listeners per day. Now, the song spinns on Star FM in Berlin/Nürnberg as well, and what more, the albums second single "Little Dreams" just got added to Swedens biggest rock radio Bandit Rock. With this flattering radio-support still rolling, the band releases a third single that honours the darkest part of the year - in Swedish!

The insistent darkness that falls all over Scandinavia in winter is known to have big effects on the public's overall health. New december release "Eviga Natt" translates to "Eternal Night" and speaks on the laments of everyday life and the dream of escaping them into a reality of your own creation. REACH are no strangers to incorporating dramatics into their music, often taking inspiration from real life events while adding a dark, intriguing twist. "Eviga Natt" is certainly no exception!

Crooning and melodic like a lullaby, the song lures the listener into a false sense of security, contradicted by the restless and brooding lyrics. Front singer and songwriter Ludvig Turner tells us: “Eviga Natt is a song about wanting to escape reality, with its responsibilities and commitments, into a world where you can be who ever you want, live how ever you want and rule how ever you want - with no consequences. The night stands for darkness and in "Eternal Night"  that darkness symbolizes uncertainties, anxiety and fear. My character suffers from the symptoms sloth, wrath, envy and greed. The song tells a story starting in bleak resignation and ending in blunt destruction.”

In the making of upcoming album "Prophecy", the band teamed up with music producer Christian Schneider, who made it his mission to unite the playful essence of REACH’s music with their raw talent as musicians. The trio consisting of Ludvig Turner, Marcus Johansson and Soufian Ma’Aoui is characterized by their mutual passion for music, their drive for experimentation and finding a very genuine joy in the process. The bond that connects them is evident in their explosive live shows, where their innate musical ability is bolstered by their unchained nature and love for improvisation.

Unknown to most, Gothenburg trio Emmecosta are all from a small town in Italy called Positano. After residing, recording and releasing all of their music in Sweden for the last seven years, the band consider themselves Swedish nationals but haven’t forgotten their roots, with new single ‘Miguel’ they aim to build on the Swedish/Italian connection.

Described quite brilliantly be Clash Magazine as “post-club tropical indie soul”, the bands debut EP garnered support from other hipster tastemakers Noisey and Complex, followed up by last years single ‘His Power Of Youth’ leading Stereogum to compliment their awareness of space in production, citing “they have a deft touch that goes each element room to breathe.” Envisage James Blake’s sonic usage of space with the production and songwriting worthy of a seat alongside Gold Panda, Belgrave and NOVAA; Emmecosta could fit right into London’s Bass scene.

‘Miguel’ is a story about a man and his own land portrayed by the delicate deliverance in Emmecosta’s music. There is a hidden romantic darkness in the actual story, which represents the bands melancholy in relation to their hometown in Italy, and what it was been like to immigrate to Sweden. There is a craving for home, yet acceptance of new belonging.

Emmecosta further this:
"’Miguel’ is a part of us that we have left in Italy. It's the son, grown up, of our past.  We look after him, we look at him, but from the North.  The song is about Miguel, the exponential image of our roots."
