Scandinavian music is a treasure trove for new talent and Danish duo Feel Freeze are another great example of this. Following in the footsteps of the likes of The Knife and Lykke Li, the electro-pop band consisting of Mathias Vinther Liholt and Raymonde Gaunoux are about to drop their debut EP Future Emotions in a Digital Heart to further build on a productive end to 2016.

Introductory track and first single from the EP, Wet My Tongue is a mixture of dreamy, electro-pop elements including dry electronic beats of The XX. The Line Of Best Fit accurately described it as ‘Plucked guitars and delicate vocal harmonies suddenly give way to echoing percussion and ominous synths - reminiscent of the soundtrack to Netflix smash hit Stranger Things’ when reviewing the singles atmospheric change into moody guitar and synthesisers with a progressive beat. The whole EP takes on an eighties retro, almost eerie feel, demonstrated perfectly in this track as a sign of things to come.

Next up, the bands latest single Give Me Your Heart, is a Work Drugs-esque indie pop track, with a touch of glo-fi. Whilst this track takes a different turn to their previous single, it completely confirmed that Feel Freeze’s spectre of sound is wide and varied. Give Me Your Heart underlying message is a feeling of bliss and renewed innocence. The bands explanation of the song reiterates:

‘It’s about lowering the barricades and facing the world with openness and trust. It's about listening to what others have to say with an open heart’

Power Plug hints at Hozier’s gospel streak, whilst guitars and synths drip past in a fluid fashion in the short-but-sweet 44 seconds of Delete. The EP rounds off in haze of dappled sunshine with more uplifting arpeggiated guitars and glockenspiels with Young (Again) circling back from the sinister tones of the opener to a much more, happy place.

Feel Freeze combines the scandinavian melancholy sound as heard from Sigur Rós and Efterklang, with the dry electronic beats of The Xx, the dreaminess from Beach House and the quaint, melodious arrangements from Jens Lekman. The band also mentions Michael Jackson as a huge inspiration as well as the eerie universes in tv-series such as Twin Peaks and Stranger Things.

After receiving so much hype around the release of their recent single, Wet My Tongue, Danish electro-pop duo going by the name of Feel Freeze are set to break waves in the UK whilst continuing their successful rise back in Denmark. Scandinavian music is a treasure trove for new talent and Feel Freeze are the perfect example of this, following in the footsteps of the likes of The Knife and Lykke Li- there are big things coming for this dreamy pop pair. The duo consisting of Mathias Vinther Liholt and Raymonde Gaunoux have received praise for their memorable live performances, supporting the likes of Thomas Dybdahl and Cymbals Eat Guitars. 

Their latest single, Give Me Your Heart, is a Work Drugs-esque indie pop track, with a touch of glo-fi. Whilst the piece takes a different turn to their previous single, it completely confirmed that Feel Freeze’s spectre of sound is wide and varied, with Summer Heart sonic similarities. Lyrically, the track gives out wonderfully uplifting, feel good vibes – with the lyrics “You’re not asleep, you’re deeply awake” guaranteed to be stuck in your brain all day.
