You can file this one under (dub) techno too if you like. Linked to the music he’s made as Puddlerunner last year in some ways, or the texture of tracks like Variable. It was compiled with Short Span following the completion of intense work on the ambient album Landmarks under his given name Fabiano, and quickly brought together an extended set of stripped back, patient, wonderfully rewarding sound. Really beautiful. Some mossy earthy texture, some starlit night skies.

berlin-based, italy-born dj & producer notte infinita graces the 909 series this week with a session that glistens and glows. starting with the dreamy downtempo soundscapes of kincaid, konduku, and joe caven, the mix leans on insect-like drums and synths that sound like mating calls in the night before moving into more introspective and darker moods. it’s a session made to soundtrack hazy early mornings whilst you melt away in your surroundings, soaking everything in. 

notte infinita is one of my go to producers. his remix of big hand’s ‘girde maye / astere’ has been on repeat ever since it was released ~ it’s a challenge in of itself to not include it in every set or mix i play. it has that dreamy, hazy quality that you will find in his 909 mix with a loopy vocal to get lost in. with a strong affinity to soundsystem culture and sound design, notte infinita’s productions can go from the slippery dancehall mutations that are found on his manila killer float / slippery ruff ep to epic world building as found on hi-tech roller remix of priori’s pareidolia. there’s also further notable releases on in:dex and oscilla sound.

Daniel Rozenhall is the hidden master of obscure experimental music in Sweden, with a close relationship to the Elektronmusikstudion EMS (the Electronic Music Studio) in Stockholm and the Fylkingen venue, record label and organisation. He has a very limited catalogue; two excellent LPs came out on Firework Edition Records in 2001 and 2003 (which were also rereleased as a compilation CD on Fylkingen Records in 2009) and a criminally forgotten CD on Kning Disk in 2008. We are proud to release his most recent work on this ultra limited vinyl LP, packaged in a beautiful cover with artwork by Rozenhall’s close collaborator, the film maker Sten Backman, and designed by Allon Kaye of Entr’acte.

Rozenhall's music is rich, rough, colourful and filled with hallucinogenic imagination. This is uneasy listening, but rewarding and highly unique. There is nothing like this out there right now, but I would like to see some connections to artists like Organum, Werkbund and even Nurse With Wound. Listening to his compositions is like being sucked into a black hole. Unearthly music from an unearthly artist.

This is the first  proper album by Dungeon Acid!
 Since we first released his debut 7” in 2010 the man has done a bunch of life changing 12”s and cassettes, always with the rhythm in focus, inspired by early techno and acid House from Chicago and Detroit mainly, we’d say.  
 
The here is now, and the past has been. Jean-Louis Huhta being part of most good things coming out of Sweden since the 80s; from his teen days playing in Cortex and  filthy crust punk with Anticimex and touring the UK in a van with no seats with Napalm Death, to early electronic dance music experiments with Lucky People Centre, ritual rock tribalism with The Skull Defekts, and electro-acoustic sessions with people like Zbigniew Karkowski and CM von Hausswolff. His back catalogue is sick, and great.  
 
But to now. This double vinyl LP is the top of a mountain containing tracks from 2010-2018, contemporary techno aimed at the dance floor filled with skills, personality, warmth, history and future.
