Noods Radio: The Schwet w/ Margenrot 30.06.21

The illustrious Abu Ama lets loose on Accidental Meetings with a 9 track LP, manifesting his trademark distorted dubwise style, with traditional folk song throughout. 

Following wzrdyAV's sublime 'Midnight Visions' we're so, so excited to welcome Abu to the label for AM002. An unbelievable artist and person, we're honoured to have him on AM. 
Abu who lives in West Germany showcases his whole repertoire throughout the 9 tracks with a selection of new and old, past and present. 

His field recordings are scattered over the album and his rumbling bass is ever present, traditional folk songs dip in and out of the album all brought together in Abu's signature dub-wise style. 


The album flows from the noise and industrial-ness of Ghostograph and Nictistwieesscheint to the softer pads of Red Rose and Gods Will. Abu's trademark distorted style and rumbling bass comes in to the fray on Yogi Yard with the addition of hard hand drums in Karochi. Leading him to venture into more of his traditional dub on Kleopatra arabxo, where his distant field recordings really come into play. The traditional folk song is present throughout however it really shines Peach Garden & Plastic Cobra, where he really gets his groove on.

The project is based on tighter audio connections between several artists living in different places (Georgia, Iceland). Being inspired by the whispering game Telephone, we are creating a chain of author's audio-works, which responds to each other. We have selected 9 young artists from both countries, who are interested in radio art or sound art. The first artist from the chain produced a sound work that will be shared with the second artist from another country. The following produced work will be like a response to the work and will be shared with the third artist from the chain etc. The artists are having a week to produce the responsive content / audio gesture. The works are part of a weekly program of Community Radio Tbilisi and Seyðisfjörður Community Radio.

The aim of the project was to connect the individual artists through the radio works, shift the passivity of the listeners to more active roles, create and interesting radio content based on experimental approach and support exchange and collaboration between artists and radio stations.
