"Crystallum" is a journey into the depth of the sounds by investigating the internal and invisible relationships of their inner components and the complex network of their nature. 
The piece is structured on the relationship and the mapping of all the possible natural harmonic nodes on the strings of each independent instrument of a string quartet. 

"Crystallum" is a compositional kaleidoscope of networks, organized with sounds in several levels and categories and pictured from different angles.

"Crystallum" is the thin thread between the past and the present, orient and occident, Maqam/Adwar system and Just Intonation music and inspired by the nomadology concept of Gilles Deleuze.

Commissioned by NeoQuartet. World premiere on 29th October 2021, at 10. NeoArte Synthesizer of Arts Festival Gdansk, Poland.

Crystallum for string quartet and electronics - 2021

This is a rough recording of my flute ensemble piece Reera, kindly performed and recorded each part separately in a very short amount of time by Rarescale flute ensemble (5-6 members of the ensemble).

"Sanguine" is a collection of three miniatures inspired by Hildegard von Bingen’s "O Rubor Sanguinis." Hildegard always fascinates me with not only her beautiful music but also the powerful images in her texts. In Sanguine, I stayed away from any explicit musical references to "O Rubor Sanguinis." Instead, I have tried to recreate a musical interpretation of the text which, of course, is very different from Hildegard’s version.
Movement one sets out a flowing and transparent texture depicted in the first two lines of the text. Movement two is about the darkness, chaos, and intensity of “winter with serpent’s blast.” In movement three, a delicate and fragile soundscape is restored to create an ethereal and other-worldly mood.

English translation of O Rubor Sanguinis:
"O bloody red
that flowed from up that height
divinity has touched: a bloom you are
that winter with the serpent’s blast
has never marred."

Jaime Bermúdez Escamilla adopted his pen name from the late poet María del Adarve. A music enthusiast, as well as a composer and sound designer, Jaime was always compelled by what awaits at the intersection where music, words and images meet, and how the audience takes part in that exchange. His work has found its place in film, theater and video games over the past decade. 

He began to develop his passion for music at the age of 12, when he started taking classical piano lessons in his hometown in Andalusia. At age 17 he joined a metal band, which is what you do at that age. A natural-born geek, he then bought his first Pro Tools equipment and began writing and producing fun instrumental pieces that sounded a lot like movie soundtracks. Not long after, he would start collaborating with friends on their projects, writing music for live art performances, short films and small games. 

In 2015, Jaime co-founded his own video game company, an adventure that would give way to his freelance career in the sector. On the side, he’s an interactive music lecturer at the University of Barcelona and he also writes for the classical music magazine Press Music. 

The music in Neu, his upcoming debut EP, was first conceived for the stage. In early 2019, Catalan playwright Bernat Muñoz commissioned Jaime’s music and sound for his soon-to-be premiered stage play. Neu delicately portrays the reunion between Tea, a woman with autism, and her sister Ada, following the death of their mother. Each piece is dedicated to each of the women in the story. The songs that were originally born from this script are now revisited and reshaped as an independent body of work. They were recorded live at Sol de Sants Studios in September 2022. 

Neu releases on the 24th of March, featuring photographs taken by Jaime and graphic design by Celia Bayo.

Relive [Piano Day 2020]

The music of Iranian composer/performer, Idin Samimi Mofakham (*1982) is deeply based on the traditional and regional music of his home country. Since 2015, He develops his own musical language based on the medieval Persian tuning systems, just intonation and Psychoacoustics.

Since 2019, Idin holds a PhD in Artistic Research position at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo (Norway), pursuing his research on Persian medieval tuning systems and its creative usage in contemporary composition.
