Ancestral Vision - Set Melodic Hitech 2021 #1

𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙨𝙮-𝙀𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘
This set was meant to be played at the event Area51: Tricky Chaos in early August 2021. The organiser requested a low bpm so this challenged me to start as slow as 158; my slowest start ever! (Sadly the event got cancelled)

The tracklist is truly something very special as it is distinctly energetic and diverse, yet impossible to place in the common genre's of  uptempo psychedelic music. 

Expect a really unusual & groovy beginning and soon after some Tek'ish influence, afterwards really strong Dark/Experimental tracks, an exceptional melodic chapter and a touch of Hitech and finally closing with a few heavy hitting Psycore sounds.

Finally, after months of delaying our Netherfreaks event (due to Corona), we finally made it happen on 23-10-21! Only our third actual party, and it was good to be back. 

This is the set I prepared for this momentous first event after 1.5 years of lockdowns. After 5 years of DJing I'm finding the essence to my own distinct sound more and more. This is the first time I've really re-used some tracks for a set. I wanted to raise the bar on the coherency of my Dark dancefloor sound. The genres Darkpsy/Tekno/Hitech/Pscyore come together beautifully and offer constant variety and dancefloor energy.

Darkpsy-Tekno & Psycore/Dj-Set @ The Blast Returns: Netherfreaks [175-200]

On 30-04-22 we hosted the debut event of a collaborative new concept BOMBLASTIC. Together with Bom Voyage we had an amazing night in Club Radion. This is what I played on the BLAST STAGE from 24:00 until 01:00. 

The first half contains some of the finest contemporary Darkpsy, and afterwards I've used some all time favorite Hitech tracks from between 07' and 17'. These are some of the sounds that made me fall in love with this music back in '11. These all time classics still hold up today in comparison to a lot of new hitech being released. Darkpsy & Old School Hitech/Dj-Set @ BOMBLASTIC (165-190)

This concept came to life back in December 2021. Around that time the Netherlands went into lockdown as sole EU country. It is times like this that allow me to work on a set without a clear ending or deadline. It was finalized around 4 months later but now I feel the time is right to unleash this beast! 😈

The goal was to create another extended Ritual set. This time with a focus on a more intricate and delicate atmosphere. Expect Dark sounds, often influenced by samples out of nature, and an organic ambiance. It features a vast array of my favorite artists with a high variety of chapters and diversity. I consider this to be the most ambitious set in my 5 years of DJing. 
It will take you on an introspective journey into the depths of Darkpsy/Psycore/Hitech & Slambient.

Experimental Darkpsy, Hitech, Slambient Dj-set @ Bomblastic  2 (165-200)

On 14th October 2023 we hosted BomBlastic Chapter 3 together with Bom Voyage. At this long awaited 3rd Edition we again felt how beautiful this concept is! 

Big thanks to all visitors and especially the crowd that was there for my set. This time I played a compilation of unique tracks that I hold close to my heart. Some of the tracks are almost 'unmixable' as they are in a league of their own in sound and quality. Most of them highly psychedelic, experimental and intense. I decided to make super clean transitions and dance floor energy 2nd priority because this event allows me to have complete freedom in track choice. Very happy with the result and the feedback I got from the crowd. :)

Fractal Storm invites you to the last psychedelic event of 2018! Our guest from Hungary, one of the earlier names; Romeo Dark will drive us into a unique adventure. In this special night where Darkpsy, Hi-Tech and Experimental sounds flow we’ll also get the chance to listen Erf as the other live act performance. A very successful hi-tech producer, originally Iranian and now Istanbul based Erf will drop the bomb in the middle of the underground scene with his melodic and fast bass lines, matchless timbers and his unique sound. Other than these two Live Acts, there will also be two Dj performances for this night. While Selix is making the opening, Mita will follow afterwards, showing us a serial e of un-released projects of many different record labels and underground artists around the world. The second one was Unity Gathering, a festival focused on a very natural and organic atmosphere and a very clear focus on experimental music. 
This is when I could finally finish the ritualistic set I was working. 

This is the recording of the set that I played on the first morning of the festival @ 5:30 for some freaks still awake and some just out of bed.

For 'The Future is Blast' on 15-02-20 I prepared my darkest and slowest set ever. It's the first time that I ventured below 165bpm and I aimed to create a 'hypnotic drumcircle' kind of atmosphere. In the 2nd half expect a touch of experimental and at the end some Hitech to prepare the crowd the Popeks set after me.

Darkpsy-Experimental/Dj-Set @ The Future Is Blast [160-185]

During the lockdown of early 2020, with no gigs or events to organise, I decided to do something that I otherwise would never find the time for: make a 3+hour ritual set.

I've aimed to implement more of the hypnotic and introspective elements that you hear in experimental/psycore tracks, while trying to maintain the dancefloor energy of Hitech. It's divided in a few different chapters aimed at offering a highly diverse ride, enjoy!

A set prepared for an alternative stage at This is Madness XL 

Kontrast Soundsystem invited us to collaborate on hosting a stage in Rotterdam. It would have been our first stage outside of Amsterdam. Event got cancelled because of the pandemic, but I had this set ready to go so I recorded it! The event featured tekno and hardcore so that's where the inspiration for this hybrid set came from.

IDIOBLAST a.k.a. Mats Weel, born in 1989, had his first experience with fast psychedelic music in 2011. Instantly intrigued by how the high BPM music affected his state of mind, he started collecting music fanatically. After graduating Academy of Fine Arts in 2012 he spend numerous years experimenting with different art forms. It was not until early 2017 that he discovered his true passion behind the decks. Because of his education he has a conceptual approach to his sets and a focus on thematic track selection. He aims to deliver polished and energetic sets, and tries to find a balance between variety and coherency. 

Founded Amsterdam Blast Events in 2019.
