Next up on @idlecellars mix series is a beautiful mix from @briannotbrian. His history is firmly rooted in his hometown of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Residencies and guest spots in the city's most respected hip-hop, funk, soul and disco nights throughout the mid to late 90's saw him broaden his tastes and cement his skills as a seasoned selector. It was the spirit of growing up in Northern Ireland and his experiences in Belfast that saw him bring his own style and flavor to London at the turn of the millenium. Starting from scratch, obsessively digging, buying records and building new relationships in the metropolis gave Brian the opportunity to put on lots of parties and DJ alongside his friends and eventually his heroes. It also helped that he was putting in shifts behind the counters of the city's premier record spots including: MVE, Phonica, Kristina and Rye Wax. Armed with a heavyweight record collection and a solid crew of close musical friends, Brian co-ran the now infamous, musically open and freestyle minded 'Special Needs' parties that lasted almost 8 years at various venues around the city. 

In more recent times Brian has traveled the world playing music with gigs in Australia, Brazil, the USA and Canada as well as regular trips all over the UK and Europe. These global excursions have no doubt been bolstered by the record label that Brian set up with his longtime friend Salik Z - Going Good. An open-minded and sonically adventurous imprint that has achieved worldwide acclaim. Brian continues to play music far and wide with sets at festivals like Dekmantel, Meadows In The Mountains, Farr Festival and a yearly residency at Kala Festival in Albania. With a deep collection of eclectic music, knowledge and skills to match, Brian has a thirst for sounds of all kinds and enjoys joining often disparate dots and connections between records. This special mix for Idle Cellars is intended to evoke that late night / early morning feel, a selection of new finds, old faves and even some unreleased gems..... probably best listened to outside, on a good system and with a drink in hand ✨🍷✨

Brian Not Brian - Idle Fantasy

Idle Cellars is a boutique winery located in Sonoma County, California. We are Ben Larks, a teacher and explorer from Los Angeles and Ari Heavner, an entrepreneur from Berkeley. Our shared affinity for world travel and adventure led us to connect in 2006 while working crush in Sonoma. Idle Cellars was born with our first batch of Cabernet Sauvignon reflecting, as in most harmonious relationships, a balanced yin and yang between city dwelling Heavner and country living Larks. We strive to produce an elegantly balanced wine through our grace of art. Our belief is that the essence of winemaking is getting dirty in the vineyard, ensuring the best of Sonoma. We make it from the vine to the bottle through hands-on craftsmanship. Our knowledge and deep understanding of our agricultural surroundings allows us to choose what we believe are the best processes for each varietal of wine. Working together for 17 years now, Ben and Ari’s winemaking bond is stronger than ever, escalating the Idle movement one glass at a time. 
Music is such an important part of our lives and our wine making experience, we decided to start a mix series which is a musical representation of an #idlemoment.
