In July 2010, I got an invitation to play at a small but neat festival named Folk Ibiza. It was my first visit to the island. I got to spin at a bunch of different locations, such as the Hostal Boutique Salinas, Sunset Ashram, and on the terrace at Space. I returned in September of the following year to play a set on Andy Wilson's show on Ibiza Sonica and a second time at the Hostal. I have not been back to Ibiza since. I recently came across this picture (taken at Cala Compte next to Sunset Ashram), which inspired me to make this mix. I tried to sonically capture the vibe that I felt back then. It includes some bona fide classics such as Ashra "Oasis“, Santana "Aqua Marine," and Jah Wobble & Holger Czukay "Hold On To Your Dreams," as well as tunes by Smith & Mudd, Begin, Quiet Village and more. we have for this seventeenth CAST a mix by the one & only @trujillo recorded live way back in November 2023 from the beloved ROOM ONE HUNDRED, our more experimental dancefloor where everything goes, as long as this is under the 110bpm mark. from approaching Trujillo with this concept to sharing now the first of the 2 hour ride he delivered on that night, we can easily say the Venezuelan born DJ really understood the assignment! taking you on a trip through various genres, from rnb to tropical, boogie to dub, we are so glad we captured this on tape.

What up IC cru! Been a minute - how you been? We took a little break to let that last mix marinate but we’re back with another for your discerning pleasure. This time around we’re excited to showcase a real UK OG who has been active in various guises over the years, flying the Balearic flag as a DJ, producer and connoisseur of fine choons in The Main Stem circa 2010 and lately with Midlands trio Wrekin Havoc, whose edits and original productions - both of which blur the lines of what is what - have been on rotation in my bag since they first stepped on the scene a few years ago. It’s Rob.J! Robert to his mum, when not up into the wee hours pushing rare track rips to his friends via online chat like some kind of strange drug dealer with incredible taste, has been hard at work with his WH mates Stu & Rich, working on new music seemingly nonstop and blowing minds at last year’s Rotation festival in the English countryside. 

Rob is truly taking us on a Balearic journey with heaps of impossibly rare tunes that sound like they were beamed from the White Island telepathically, mixed by the seat of his pants over a whopping 150 minute mix! Obscure 80s pop gems meeting late-decade dance music head-on, 90s breakbeats, Italo cheese, Spanish vocals dancing with guitar licks - one could be forgiven to think this was recorded poolside at Ku in ‘88!

Big thanks to Rob for contributing such an epic mix, we hope you love it like we do. May it soundtrack your Spring & Summer!

Idle Cellars is a boutique winery located in Sonoma County, California. We are Ben Larks, a teacher and explorer from Los Angeles and Ari Heavner, an entrepreneur from Berkeley. Our shared affinity for world travel and adventure led us to connect in 2006 while working crush in Sonoma. Idle Cellars was born with our first batch of Cabernet Sauvignon reflecting, as in most harmonious relationships, a balanced yin and yang between city dwelling Heavner and country living Larks. We strive to produce an elegantly balanced wine through our grace of art. Our belief is that the essence of winemaking is getting dirty in the vineyard, ensuring the best of Sonoma. We make it from the vine to the bottle through hands-on craftsmanship. Our knowledge and deep understanding of our agricultural surroundings allows us to choose what we believe are the best processes for each varietal of wine. Working together for 17 years now, Ben and Ari’s winemaking bond is stronger than ever, escalating the Idle movement one glass at a time. 
Music is such an important part of our lives and our wine making experience, we decided to start a mix series which is a musical representation of an #idlemoment.
