Hey y’all! We’re back! This one has been a long time coming. I’m extremely excited to present to you the latest Idle Cellars mix, made by Melbourne’s Jazz-Funk-Cosmic-Disco masters Mildlife! A bit of a hail-mary pass, it was a dream to ask these guys to give us a mix for the series and I’m so happy they said yes! Kev McDowell, who sings and plays synths, put the mix together on the heels of re-starting their excellent Very Fantastic Radio podcast (which you should go subscribe to immediately) and he’s handed in a stone-cold-killer of a mix, a 90-minute journey through more genres than you can count. Which is well-Balearic in our book! 

I have been a staunch advocate of this band since hearing their defining single “The Magnificent Moon” back in 2017. Their music has been a revelation to me and, after seeing them something like five times I can safely say they are one of the best live acts in the world at the moment. Do not sleep on them, and if you haven’t heard their albums Phase, Automatic or Chorus, get thee to a record shop, stat!

Mildlife - Idle Cellars Mix

Slurred and blurrrrrred, check it ouuuuuut.

Idle Cellars is a boutique winery located in Sonoma County, California. We are Ben Larks, a teacher and explorer from Los Angeles and Ari Heavner, an entrepreneur from Berkeley. Our shared affinity for world travel and adventure led us to connect in 2006 while working crush in Sonoma. Idle Cellars was born with our first batch of Cabernet Sauvignon reflecting, as in most harmonious relationships, a balanced yin and yang between city dwelling Heavner and country living Larks. We strive to produce an elegantly balanced wine through our grace of art. Our belief is that the essence of winemaking is getting dirty in the vineyard, ensuring the best of Sonoma. We make it from the vine to the bottle through hands-on craftsmanship. Our knowledge and deep understanding of our agricultural surroundings allows us to choose what we believe are the best processes for each varietal of wine. Working together for 17 years now, Ben and Ari’s winemaking bond is stronger than ever, escalating the Idle movement one glass at a time. 
Music is such an important part of our lives and our wine making experience, we decided to start a mix series which is a musical representation of an #idlemoment.

João Cláudio fell in love with dance music and electronic music when he was a child, influenced by his parents' 70's and 80's vinyl records. 

As a teenager, he started buying his own CDs, mixing them for his friends. 

At 24, after graduating in Business Administration, he moved to Miami. 

After two years of amazing experiences, he returned to Brazil and established himself as an entrepreneur in Minas Gerais state. 

Today João Cláudio, aka D Sounds, decided to show his musical style in his "two" hometowns, Belo Horizonte and Mexico City!
