A remake of Tangled in Tomorrow, in which I programmed drums, elaborated verses and choruses, remade the solo, and remixed the original. I basically rewrote the song.

C'est La Vie Mon Amour

Composed in the latter months of 2020, "Age of Fire," is an allusion to the wildfire season in California, which historically began as early as July and runs through October--the period during which these songs were composed. Age of Fire speaks to the social tension at the time and their resolutions, open endings, and spiritual renewal.

UPRISING and SUMMONING are inspired by the determined rage of the world for justice. 

UPRISING, harnesses the energy of voices coalescing and people gathering to demand respect from powerful institutions determined to oppress and silence. It is my most experimental track, utilizing a choir of plucked violins, droning cellos, resonant double bass, and electronic sub-bass as a foundation for roving, tenor guitar explorations that introduce tonality and harmony to the otherwise dissonant orchestra.

SUMMONING is intended as a culmination of the unfocused and dispersed nature of UPRISING. The track revolves a round the steady tone of ringing of a bell, like a church bell or a victory bell, with piano accompaniment repeating over trilling high hats. The guitar is extremely processed, almost breaking apart from the level of distortion, emphasizing the bells and taking over in the verses. SUMMONING is inspired the coalescing of people in public places, joining and raging in the streets. It is as much an invitation as a testament.

REFLECTIONS opens the post-summer season, exploring the spaces left after the streets clear. It is renewal, uncertainty, and exploration. In contrast to the previous tracks, this is an open and clean space with room for resonant chords and roving bass lines guided by a simple and delicate drum beat.

CATHEDRAL synthesizes the openness of REFLECTIONS, retaining the space created by REFLECTIONS and defining a guitar melody that leads into a cleansing space. A space for healing and prayer backed by a whirling organ.

VERMONT reintroduces the smoky rhythmic spaces of UPRISING and SUMMONING, creating a muted but concentrated track with traditional song structures. VERMONT samples of each of the experiences of the past and blends them into a portrait of becoming.

Improvised melodic noise. My music focuses on capturing spontaneity and the surprises that arise from free exploration. Sometimes graceful, disastrous, noisy, or harmonic, each piece is a reflection of a moment.
