The story behind the LG Jazz Collective started, as it should in jazz, with respect for and understanding of the tradition. Guitarist Guillaume Vierset first approached the work of legendary jazz musicians from Liège such as Bobby Jaspar and René Thomas, before throwing himself into the composition and writing of arrangements. Mission accomplished on this first release.
As a composer and arranger, Guillaume is an absolute born storyteller who also knows how to listen. This can be heard in the sophisticated finishing which is coloured with crystalline pop harmonies and catchy melodies.
As a guitar player he combines the poetry of Philip Catherine, the “soul” of Grant Green and the sharp edges of Kurt Rosenwinkel.
‘The End Is Always Sad’ is already a live classic.

His sparring partners, a “dream team” of upcoming Belgian talent, are given plenty of room to express themselves, but always at perfectly measured times. A reference? Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band.
Vierset and his collective of young Turks are ready to cut their own path, maybe even opening one for another generation. So the LG Jazz Collective could become a link in the long history of jazz.

Created in 1978, IGLOO Records was initially created in Belgium to cater for improvised and electro-acoustic music, but gradually specialised in modern jazz and "chanson française".

IGLOO Records runs a number of separate imprints. IGLOO for Jazz, IGLOOMONDO is home to world-based projects such as Majid Bekkas, Wendo Kolosoy and Manou Gallo. IGLOO+ release left-field material such as Flat Earth Society (band), X-Legged Sally and L'Ensemble Musique Nouvelles. Factice showcases Belgian French-speaking artists such as Mochélan and Tomassenko.
