"Pictures of Spain" is a suite for Piano Quintet which tries to depict some of the Spanish folklore through the combination of different Spanish rhythms (Muiñeira, Zortziko) and modern contemporary techniques.

'Comrade Napoleon's Speech' is a piece for narrator, chamber orchestra and women voices which tries to make a criticism about the double-dealing of some Politics and the non-perspicacious attitude of some people towards it. It's based on 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell, and, specially, it uses the character of the boar Comrade Napoleon as an allegory of some of today's politicians.

This piece is inspired on the Kübler-Ross Grief Cycle model, more commonly known as the five stages of loss and grief, which was first introduced by the Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross in her book 'On death and dying' (1969).
Each movement of this Cello Concerto depicts a different stage of this cycle; figuratively, the solo cello represents the person who has had a loss and the orchestra, the unavoidable destiny.
At present, after the tragedy and the commotion caused by the murder of Jo Cox, I would like to dedicate this piece to the people who are suffering from a grieving process due to the loss of this person, someone who lived and fought for human rights and, precisely for that reason, was deprived of the most important right: the right to life.

'Elegy', written in memory of Sir Christopher Dobson, former master of St John's College, Cambridge. Performed by the 2020 Orchestra under the baton of Oliver Cope at West Road Concert Hall (Cambridge) on Wednesday 4th March 2020.
