Taking inspiration from Italian musician Lucio Battisti's album 'la batteria, il contrabasso etcetera' (the drums, the double bass etcetera), SD examines the vital elements of drum and bass with this EP, guiding us through the multi-faceted influences that inform his production.

Be it the dreamy atmosphere and melancholic piano of 'Since I've been searching for', the liquid funk of 'How you like it' or the gritty drum led stomper 'Stompbox', SD ties it all together with the same jazz and blues sensibilities that give the whole project it's unique vibe.

'Acetate funk' delivers the funk element to maximum effect with looping 80s sounds and funk drums tuned to precision.

A varied EP that delivers both musically and technically, SD makes a fine debut for Dispatch LTD with this 5 track beast.

The second part of Philth’s ‘Moments in Time’ LP is about to drop on Dispatch Recordings; after the success of its first segment, it’s sure to make a similar impact and start 2020 at a formidable height for Philth. Comprising thirteen more brand new selections, it’ll remind listeners of why his debut LP was such a sought-after release.

The album opens with ‘Let You Fall’, drawing for old-school breaks and emotive voice overtures. Meanwhile, Ella Sopp joins Philth once again for ‘Just a Memory’, with her luring vocals streaming through the mix. Daniela Rhodes is the next featuring artist alongside Philth for ‘Solar Cycle’, their drawn-out melodies and sublime vocals are underpinned by the tracks cinematic breakdowns and ambitious extended arrangement. ‘The Teacher’ pays homage to Philth’s darker waters, with aggressive distorted sub bass and rolling techstep drums. Interlude ‘The Storm’ nods to Philth’s vast musical background, whilst ‘Rivers’ allows you to become lulled by its searing strings. US duo Quadrant & Iris then join Philth for ‘Emerald’, a collaboration which mixes the light and darker elements which make all three producers so buy-on-sight. ‘Damaged’ is more ruminating, with moodier undertones and Becca Jane Grey makes another appearance with Philth for the rollers mix of ‘Lost in a Moment’.
‘Claws’ shows a new production face from Philth, with his drum work acting as a centre piece. ‘The Light’ once again demonstrates his lighter side, like the ethereal tones of ‘Just a Drop in the Ocean’. Finally Collette Warren steps up alongside Philth for the deeply reflective closing track ‘Stuck in a Loop’, the latest in a long line of collaborations between the pair.

Philth proves with another huge delivery that he’s able to take you through a range of emotions, something which his music has always endeavoured to do. ‘Moments in Time’ also highlights Philth’s enviable work ethic, something amplified once more by a production standard which is second to none.

Returning from 5 years producing techno as Vinicius Honorio, DIS145 sees a return to drum and bass for BTK with four tracks fused with influence from across the board.

A previous version of ‘The Means Justified The Ends’ was supported by Spirit and features a vocal taken from a conversation with a friend in a bar, whilst discussing the old school. With some recent attention to this unfinished track BTK went back to the lab, and gave it a brand new mixdown for this release.

‘The Sinners Are Winners’ had also had support from Ed Rush but was assumed lost following a hard drive failure. After rediscovering the project in a backup, we are now proud to include this monster in BTK’s return to the genre.

Encapsulating percussive raw elements with a b-boy/hip-hop flavour, BTK and Friske’s ‘Legit’ is a collaboration that took many years to complete.

Drum and bass heavily influenced BTK’s sound for techno alias, and the track ‘Stay With Me’ is a reflection of his experience with techno, carried through to his 174bpm productions.

After a background in traditional piano training and progression onto the electronic organ during childhood, I got my first 16-bit computer aged 13 in the form of the Commodore Amiga 500.
Somebody gave me copies of Soundtracker software and the ST range of sample disks, and along with my best friend, we began making our own tunes. Then along came MED Sound Studio and we started really getting to grips with producing using just the Amiga and simple keyboards.

As our output grew and the next few years unfurled, so we created first Q-P-I Music (Quadrosonix Productions Inc), 'Headlong Recordings', and finally 'Unborn Records', all basically label names for our growing output of experimental, late 80's/early 90's rave-influenced tunes. I became CJ Shadow, making hardcore, techno and jungle style tracks, while CJ Trinity made remixes of more commercial sounding tunes like that of The Prodigy and laid-back house/techno stuff, and developed a more general electronica-like, ambient, trance-style sound.

By the time we left school in 1992, aged 16, we had produced well over twenty C90 cassette albums of material. The next year or so saw investment in our kit as we upgraded to Amiga 1200 computers, better synths, and for the first time the introduction of simple mixers and decent monitor speakers. The quantity of our output certainly reduced, but the quality significantly increased.

Though our paths in life diverged significantly at aged 17, we continued to produce an evolving sound, improving and honing our individual styles and incorporating our personal influences as jobs and money allowed investment in better software and hardware. By the time the internet was a thing and even before ADSL (broadband) I was releasing the best of our music on unsigned music websites like MP3.com. Uploading several hours of music on a dial-up connection, now that was fun :)

By the turn of the millenium we had our own website, unbornrecords.net, and ran it as our label and home online to promote our music. CJ Trinity's material was by now very much in the house/trance and dance remix genres, whilst mine was definitively a breakbeat-driven, jungle and drum&amp;bass sound, reflecting the scene I was busy raving in every weekend, and immersed in fanatically. We sold a few CD albums, got quite a lot of downloads and generally enjoyed what we did, but life got in the way of it ever becoming more than a hobby.

Though our music continued to increase in quality and get some serious attention from a few people in the right places, sadly by 2005 we both had so much going on in our separate lives and so little time for music production that the website fizzled out, and along with the demise of several of the unsigned artist sites we had our material on, our music basically fell off the edge of a cliff. CJ Trinity's unfinished but astonishingly good final album, 'Atmospheric Hi Trip', really showed how far and complete his particular dance sound had come. My last CJ Shadow album, entitled 'Kitchen For No Reason', was completed that year and actually reflects how complete and professional my DnB-based sound was becoming. Even today, everyone who hears it seems to agree that it truly is a crying shame that I never continued making music.

Since 2005 I remain infatuated with the Drum & Bass scene, keeping up with the massive online output and trends, going out whenever possible to the dances and just loving everything I'm hearing and seeing. Recent months have seen me going through the old hard drives, listening to our old music, and a dawning realisation that I cannot allow this part of my life to die. And having now stumbled on a folder of projects and work from 2005 that basically constitutes what would have been my next album, I have decided to plug myself back into production.

2025 sees the 20th anniversary of the release of Kitchen For No Reason. I can confirm that a new LP is on its way, produced under my new Ignomius Darka moniker.
