Up and coming British house artist Amy Dabbs takes us on a journey through the house music galaxy, pulling influences from the past while propelling us into the future with her latest release ‘Girl Like Me’ released on Distant Horizons, a sub-label of London mainstay Lobster Theremin. 

The four track EP encapsulates the vision and virtues of classic house, reflecting elements from Amy's musical upbringing, infusing influences from Motown through to early house, and simultaneously instilling whispers of 80s and 90s soul that formed the building blocks of the modern day house sound. 

Opening track ‘Girl Like Me’ sets the tone with a vibrant pace and rhythmic precision. Illustrating life’s ups and downs, it’s a true testament to the power of positivity and nurtures the ever-present possibility of enrichment in our lives, even through hard times. 

‘Mellowday’ is a classic Detroit house number infused with touches of jazz. It’s sublimely uplifting, a feel-good tune with an exquisite sound pallett and vibey vocals.The positive energy of the track and the title itself are inspired by her adopted rescue dog, Melody. 

‘No More Distractions’ shouts-out to the old skool. Cited by Amy as “inspirations” in her musical career, musical legends such as Larry Heard and Metro Area are paid homage to in this track with a revitalised use of the Juno 106, remembering sounds in an 80s-into-90s style epic encounter. Lastly, ‘The Player’ is a pure complement to the end of the night, lifting you up with its soaring pads whilst grounding you with the lyrics of the spoken word. Lyrically relatable and a groove to end on. This is a tune to mend your wings and fly to.

Emanuele Barilli's new release, "Die Lampe," marks a milestone in his growth as a producer under the Aterral label. After two years with us, Emanuele's sound has evolved as a touring DJ in Europe. With 3 bangers in this release, he highlights his knack for crafting menacingly groovy basslines.

The title track, "Die Lampe," is intensely minimal. A thumping bass pulls you into a trance, with an ambience that keeps you locked to the dance floor. It's a perfect example of Emanuele's talent for reaching exceptionally high levels of energy whilst conforming to the boundaries of house. It feels like you are on a mission.

"Studio 3" offers a breath of fresh air with a playful melody and wonderfully placed chords. "Got A Muv" seals the release with a heavy dub. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Kolter, it features a swoosh of chords with serious undertones alongside a relentless kick.

Over 25 years of digging, and more than 2 years in curation. @NickV ’s debut compilation pays homage to forgotten gems of the classic Italian House scene, circa 1991-1993.
In the early 1990s, Italy hosted one of the most flourishing scenes in the burgeoning world of House music. Whilst the majority of Europe was only just beginning to digest the arrival of this new musical genre born in the US, Italian clubs, DJs and labels were hot on the heels of their counterparts in the already established scenes of New York and London. The clubs of the Adriatic coast – also known as the Italian Riviera – principally concentrated around Rimini and Riccione, were full every weekend with crowds gathering to dance long into the early hours of the morning. The soundtrack was provided by the major US and UK acts from the day but also local resident DJs that had been honing their trade since the early 80s in the clubs and in the studio. By the early 90s, Italian House music was regularly exported around the world with labels such as UMM, Zippy, D-Vision, MBG, Flying, Palmares, DFC and Irma releasing tracks inspired by the original New York House and Garage sound, but with a very different, unique and emotional take. Distinct from both Italo Disco and Italo House, this was the specific aesthetic that was to become the House sound of the Riviera, the soundtrack of the golden era of Italian House music.

Nick V’s compilation on Mona Musique brings together 8 iconic tracks from this specific period, covering the whole spectrum of the riviera sound. From the powerful vocal tracks by Korda and Be Noir to the dubbier cuts by Syncopate and Underground Ghosts, without forgetting of course the characteristic Riviera deepness with tracks from Subway Ground Master, Centric House, Groove Sense and Optik. Artists featured include legendary DJs and producers from the day Ricky Montanari, Alex Neri, Enrico Mantini, MBG and Ivan Iacobucci. The compilation comes in a double gatefold sleeve with liner notes by Nick V illustrated by flyers and photos from the original Riviera days. This is a DJ friendly 45 RPM vinyl only release (due du licensing restrictions), all tracks have been remastered with the sound staying true to the dynamics of early 90s production. To be released on 20th May 2019 on Mona Musique.
