A track for Naviar Record's Haiku Challenge; 7 days in which to create a track inspired by the haiku posted. This track uses Olafur Arnalds Stratus piano, combined with a more conventional piano part playing the melody.

Like A Letter Read Many Times (naviarhaiku424)

This week's haiku, by Ryuta Iida (1920-2007), inspired this improvisation (in D Dorian) using a baritone saxophone sample from Jazz and Big Band in Aria Player. Recorded and mixed in Reaper with added effects: Frostbite2 and Neunaber Wet reverb. Mastered with CloudBounce.

Ryuta Iida (1920 – 2007) was the son of the haiku poet Dakotsu Iida. Initially a rice farmer, Ryuta published his first haiku volume, “One hundred noodles”, in 1954.

August 2025 Currently on residency in Italy ! 
These are 3 short sketches using field recordings captured around Montegiovi, Tuscany. With these little works I am experimenting freely with what can be produced from each days sounds -  manipulating them and stiching them back together with the aim of producing a long format work at the end of the residency. 
I am truly thankful for this opportunity that has been provided for me by the Salamanca Arts Centre in Tasmania and Cultivate Projects/La Baldi residency in Italy and The USA. 
And of course the wonderful people of Montegiovi !
