IL’s passion for electronic music was sparked in 1994, when he was introduced to the rave world by expat Europeans. By 1997, he had taken to turntables himself — blending analog discipline with an ever-evolving ear. His sound draws influence from pioneers like Oliver Lieb, DJ Misjah, Carl Cox, Commander Tom, Richie Hawtin, and Sasha — but his curation is all his own: intuitive, transformative, and deeply felt.

Guided by decades of dancefloor devotion and an encyclopedic knowledge of genre and groove, IL has become a fixture at bush parties, boutique festivals, and warehouse rituals across Western Australia.
