Tresor is proud to announce the reissue of a classic from the early catalogue, 3MB feat. Magic Juan Atkins.

Initially released in 1992, Juan Atkins joined forces with Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann, for the second iteration of latter duo’s 3 Men in Berlin project, producing a monumental collaboration between Berlin and Detroit that profoundly affected the path forward for techno music. 

The impact this album holds is evident in how it elevates beyond a singular or separable representation of its origins. Instead, it resonates through a collaborative nature that reflects its inherent melting pot. Where hints of each member’s sound - Atkins’ mangled and bouncing funk, von Oswald’s purist echoes and foundation rumblings, and Fehlmann’s ambient meshes - may be heard coalescing in a slipstream, and at other times tussling in fervent unfoldings. It may be almost 30 years old, but it remains deeply innovative at its core - folding and warping, unrelenting from its vision. 

Densely packed is a propulsive drive of discordant bubbling and jazz-induced textures. Featuring much-beloved tracks such as Jazz Is The Teacher and Die Kosmischen Kuriere, Atkins, von Oswald and Fehlmann forming an emission bound together as a mould of metropolis navigation. Be it amid destructed realities harbouring the bleakest of nights, or long-lensed sci-fi visions, joining dots between the position of the feet and the head. The flanging pads and chirruping percussion of Jazz Is The Teacher lead in a moment in dance music that is as legendary as iconic, shifting into terrains far-out, receiving astral missives then rendering them to groove. Laid back, soulful and affective, it equals ultra-funky, interstellar techno that, once heard, leaves us never quite the same.

Термоядерный Джем - одна из первых советских рэп-групп, существовавшая с 1989 по 1994 г., в состав которой входили Тенгиз, Хотаб, Репа, Шуруп, Малой, в последствии ставшие участниками проектов Пьянству Бойс, Мистер Малой, Два Птеродактиля, Отпетые Мошенники, Дэцо, Bad B Alliance. 

Группу Термоядерный Джем основали Тенгиз (Денис Чернышов) и Хотаб (Мераб Садыков) в Ленинграде в 1989 г. Название проекта является отсылкой к аварии ядерного реактора на Чернобыльской АЭС 1986 г. В период 1989-1991 гг. Ти-Джем записал несколько песен, в том числе «Буду погибать молодым”, основной вокал в которой исполнял Хотаб.

Первое выступление группы состоялось в музыкальной телепрограмме «Да» на Ленинградском ТВ в 1991 г. с песней “Рапиристы”. В апреле Термоядерный Джем занял 1е место в фестивале Рэп Пик 91. В записях и концертах группы стали принимать участие Репа (Андрей Репников), Шуруп (Андрей Бабурин), а также английский DJ и MC Luke Mills, который в то время учился в Ленинградском университете. 

В 1992 году в состав Ти-Джема вошел Малой (Андрей Цыганов), первые треки с которым были записаны на домашней студии Репы. В 1992 году Ти-Джем выпустил кассетный релиз “Рапиристы”. В 1993 г. песня “Буду погибать молодым” в исполнении Малого и Ти-Джема попадает в хит-парады радиостанций Максимум, Европа+, радио Балтика. 

В 1994 г. название Термоядерный Джем постепенно перестаёт использоваться. Тенгиз и Хотаб становятся участниками проекта Мистер Малой в качестве авторов текстов и музыки, а также бэк-вокалистов. Шуруп становится членом группы Дэцо, совместно со Скалей (экс-Bad Balance) и Хромом (экс-Мальчишник). Репа создаёт проект Два Птеродактиля, а позднее пишет песни для группы Отпетые Мошенники и становится её участником.

В 1997 г. Тенгиз и Хотаб создают группу Пьянству Бойс, получившую известность альбомом “А и Б сидели на игле”. Хотаб меняет свой псевдоним на Хот, чтобы не ассоциироваться с чеченским боевиком Хотабом.

В 1999-2003 гг. Тенгиз и Шуруп работают в Москве, на студии Миксмедиа, в объединении Bad B Alliance в качестве звукорежиссеров и саунд-продюсеров. Основными проектами Миксмедии были Децл, Легальный Бизнес, Bad Balance, Белый Шоколад.

В начале 2000х гг. Хот заболел туберкулёзом легких. В 2009 году его не стало.

В 2010 г. Тенгиз уехал в США и открыл там рекординг студию. Шуруп переехал в Индонезию, на остров Бали.

В июне 2016 г. Репа (Андрей Репников) попал в тяжелую автомобильную аварию. Все средства, вырученные от реализации альбома Термоядерный Джем “Рапиристы”, будут направлены на его поддержку. Связаться с семьёй Андрея можно здесь http://vk.com/id8020369

Термоядерный Джем - Буду погибать молодым 1990

Ian Finkelstein is a jazz pianist and producer. He has been an active member of the Detroit jazz community since the age of 14. A student of Geri Allen, he performed with Marcus Belgrave from 2010 until Belgrave's death in 2015. He currently performs with the Robert Hurst Quintet, and is a founding member of Detroit music collective Video7.

Ian self-released his first album of house music It’s Time in 2016. His keyboard work can be heard on tracks by Scott Grooves, Omar-S and Shigeto among others. He is a regular member of Scott Grooves’ Overdubs.

The Middle Birth EP highlights Ian’s dual talents as a producer and instrumentalist. Side A features two electronic cuts, “Middle Birth” and “Mort Crim” with Ian playing live drums and bass on the latter.  SIDE B showcases Ian’s jazz quartet; he is joined by several of Detroit’s most talented young musicians: Marcus Elliot on sax, Ben Rolston on bass and Alex White on drums.
