Hello we are Idylic - John Dill (@johndill) & illich Mujica (@illich-mujica). 

Back in 2020 we were in a cabin in the mountains in the middle of the pandemic amongst new learning DJ’s. It was a celebration of illich’s birthday and the first time we played together. 

We already loved the music each one of us played and it was an unsurprising moment of “let’s b2b!” back then. The flow was full of melodic groove with a rich track collection only found in the library of 2 well-seasoned selectors. 

We would come together here and there to jam when the planets aligned, and this is the first official recorded DJ set of ours; live at Burning Man 2023 @ Waffles & House.

This is pure Idylic Housey daytime vibes, before the storm came through, and before the Wafflolympics’ Syrup licking competition. (If you know you know…) ;)

Isaiah Martin has been an integral part of programming the music for PlayAlchemist for years and is our Music Maestro for the annual Alchemist Ball. This year he invited Marieme and Snow Raven to perform live with him and the magic inside the pyramid was electric! Their set was completely unrehearsed and a pure flow state of music. Ever since the first time I saw its twinkling purple lights on the playa horizon, I’ve admired the beautiful Maxa deer and held dreams of playing on it. And this year, on the Thursday night, I had the honor of leading the deer from its camp out to deep playa where it would meet countless other animal art cars in an Animalia link-up! There was talks of a storm coming, and as I boarded the deer, it began to drizzle. I said a little prayer, the rain miraculously stopped, and she began to travel. I can honestly say there is no greater feeling than the one I felt for the two hours that followed, playing music on Maxa’s majestic deer while looking out into a crowd of some of my dearest friends smiling and dancing as more animal art cars joined the party. I remember just as I finished my last track feeling so full of joy and gratitude for everyone around me— my friends, the Maxa crew, the people who stopped for a song and stayed til the end— everyone and everything, I felt so completely thankful. And in that moment, it began to rain, the wind picked up and a massive storm rolled in, almost as if to say, “You’re welcome.”

Whoever was at The Night Sky on Saturday for sure fell in love with our new favourite discovery: Lola Bozanno. Hidden behind high stages was her hybrid set up, so perhaps the crowd didn't see the piano. A surprise element of this exceptional talent. An unmissable element to Lola singing with her angelic voice though.. The whole performance went straight to the heart.

Stranjjur is about to come full-circle this summer, and to kick off our parade of big releases which we've been patiently waiting for the right moment to unload on the world; we return to where it all began, with Lula Circus furnishing their 2nd EP for Stranjjur, nearly 2 years after their debut EP helped launch them to the globe trotting rising stars they are today; and helped Stranjjur launch in proper fashion to get us where we've arrived in our first 2 years as a label. 

The So Cold 2U EP features 2 stellar originals from Lula Circus, both heart-tugging and spewing with emotional grooves and Lula's signature melodic undertones which give both cuts an appeal that's impossible to ignore. 

On remix duties,  the red-hot Kolombo supplied us with a floor filler, while our new friend Beckwith (Ajunadeep) comes through with a super-groovy peak time remix which nods toward Bristol with it's garage-inspired bass and vocal cuts. The power punch, however, comes from two guys which any Stranjjur fan know just as well as Lula Circus themselves; Havens+Hart.  They completely flip 'So Cold' on it's head, filling every spectrum layer imaginable with non-stop funk  and bass which is a guaranteed knockout punch on any dancefloor.
