Beautiful Buzzz is a new music blog and event production company based out of San Francisco, CA.  Our goal is to expose up-and-coming artists who we believe are on the cutting edge of electronic music, future bass, bass, trap, indie dance, nu-disco, house, and electro pop & soul.  We believe the world needs to know about the little guys – and we love to support independent musicians from around the globe!

The name comes from a Rolling Stones song called “Loving Cup” which happens to be Founder Erin Maher’s favorite song from the British rockers.  It’s not a reference to anything else but that – but we like to think we have our finger on the pulse of what is buzzing within the dance music scene.

Mason Maffick is an Australian-Italian Tech House / House music DJ & Producer based in Brisbane, Australia. The Maffick strives to deliver high-energy, enthralling DJ sets comprised of rolling basslines and thumping kicks, delivered in perfect sequence, lifting audiences on their feet. Alongside this is his ability to slow down the vibe whilst maintain the high tempo, giving fans the right amount of euphoria to make every set memorable…”I want audiences to remember the set, how they felt, the emotional rollercoaster they embarked on, and most importantly, how happy and in the moment they were”. 

Having come from a drumming background in his teens, the Maffick quickly adapted his skill set to the decks after making his full progression into the EDM scene mid 2017. After only 3 months of bedroom practice, he made his club debut at The Met Brisbane in December that year. Now, only 2 years later, he holds multiple residencies, including Sub Rosa, Kenjin & Su Casa, and has played a variety of clubs across Brisbane and Gold Coast. Across his short span in the scene, Mason Maffick has supported the likes of Kolsch, Mark Knight, Huxley,  Taleena, Lowdown and Jordan Burns.

Mason’s persona is known throughout the local scene as a ‘Lover of all things music and banter whilst well known for his enthusiasm to celebrate’. The ‘Maffick’ encapsulates the ability to party strong through the night and show up bright-eyed for work the next day. “I didn’t call myself ‘Maffick’ for nothing! If you find out its meaning, you’ll be in on the inside joke”. Meaning is, of course, a pivotal force driving Mason’s musical journey. He firmly believes in his songs ‘creating a storey or journey, and having a climax that either satisfies a hole needing to be filled, or giving a pure adrenaline rush’ and quotes “To me, music is the language of the soul, it’s the voice between words or even emotions. Those things you can’t say…a song can create that feeling for you instantly.” 

Whilst it is hard to define a single musical influence, Mason attributes his style to a blend of 70’s rock (especially Led Zeppelin) and disco, 80/90’s pop and dance, 2000’s golden EDM days, and modern day house and tech house artists to create an unparalleled, unique sound.

Amongst his days DJing and producing, the Maffick also finds himself a Bachelor of Education (majoring in senior mathematics and physics), running his own tuition business and playing in state level touch football/TRL comps (as well as nationally with his previous University). He also derives his creative inspiration to his love of the sciences and philosophy. “I have these two personalities, the creative and avant-garde side where I explore the boundaries of what’s normal, or what goes together. Then it’s complimented by my analytical, calculated, logical side. This is where I piece my creations into a recognisable form of auditory pleasure, both live in performances and in my tracks”.
