Sound Diary

I recorded the sound in a private forest at Taichung City, Taiwan in 2012. Formosan rock monkey (Macaca cyclopis) is a special kind of monkey. It is the only native primate species living in Taiwan. Because of it's uniqueness, the Taiwanese government forbid people to harm these monkeys to protect the species. Generally, these monkeys live in the wild, and it is illegal to own them privately. Nevertheless, some people keep and raise them in the hills and make profits from tourists. Even though these monkeys live in forests, they are fed by human, and they know how to interact with their human master: yelling for the foods, raising their arms to catch food, and jumping around to attract attentions.
