First in a series of mini-compilations bound to shed a broader light on rising and under-represented talents, "SVT328" puts on a savorous menu of techno-friendly grooves and big-room busters from a diverse cast of up-and-coming producers. 

Punching the clock in first position, Hamburg's SUZé gives us a spitting glimpse of her vivid, exotica-infused universe. Sitting halfway laser-guided minimal tech wares and retro-laced EBM artillery, "Between The Lines" is a straight out compelling slice of conscious body music, equally enjoyable on and off the dance floor. Stephanie Raschke picks up the torch and runs the hoodoo down on a further heavy, sludgey note with "Talk To Me" - an electro-rock hybrid that beams a wild mix of neonized synth talk, raucous bass riffs and thrashed disco vibes as one. 

Kaufmann takes over with the hi-NRG "Twee", a seriously infectious slab that'll get all tickers in the room swinging at equivalent rate. Nurtured on sci-fi-infused sound design and a stadium-sized sense of raving extravaganza, this one's got peak time-belter written all over it.  A stealthier affair, Spada's "Tantrum" sneaks its way in the shadow. Merging an inch-perfect programming with luscious middle-eastern harmonics and seesawing synths on a mission, its catchy hook keeps etching deeper into the listener's mind as bars roll by. Kasbah-rocker all the way.

We bid a fond farewell to South American shores and a successful tour of Argentina under our wings, flying you first class north to East Coast USA. Our artist today has an extensive background in the scene here, having been involved for the last 20 years. Now a resident at Fader Events, 2023 looks a whole lot brighter too. Please make some noise for Ben Gingras! 

Ben Gingras is an American house and techno DJ who has been a deep rooted member of the dance music and rave scene for 25 years. He’s a newly minted resident for Fader Events, following a breakout live PA in support of Rodriguez Jr. & Liset Alea recently, and also headlining the closing party of St. Petersburg’s Movement Sanctuary. 

Ben is a lifelong musician, beginning in his early childhood playing upright bass in his school orchestra.  He comes from a musical family, which is often heard in his productions as piano or saxophone  elements, instruments played by his parents.  

His DJ sets are known for their intricate programming, and long mixes.  A callout to his insatiable appetite for music history and knowledge which has resulted in a deep catalog of ‘crate diggers’ that pair perfectly with modern cuts.  Ben has respected and admired the ability of music to move people, collectively, through shared positive experiences since he was a child, a gift he hopes to give back through his music. We hope you enjoy the mix!

The Progcast - Episode 168 - Groove Formula (US)

G'Day and welcome everyone, this is the IL MODO Podcast. Each week we take you on a tour of Planet Progressive, searching for the most exclusive beats and grooves we can lay our hands on. 

Today we are back in Australia, and the home of an ex-pat bringing the noise to his new setting. Manchester is still in the area though, so check out this exclusive set from Marcus Graham!

As a kid from the UK growing up in 1980s Manchester, Marcus was privileged to live through the Factory Records era and enjoy the booming music scene, reshaping the city’s image from ‘dirty old town’ to the global mecca of nightlife and creativity it is today. While the warehouse and club scene  began to bubble away, Marcus spent his early teens listening to mixtapes from the likes of Sasha (who began his career in Manchester) the DJs of the Thunderdome and Hippos (Jay and Moggy) and the legendary 808 State Show - at the age of 16 Marcus got an invite to the Sunset studios, and was asked to play a live  guest mix on the show, then shortly after he was booked to play his first club gig in the city, warming up at Parliament Nightclub.

He spent many years clubbing and DJ'ing around Manchester and the City Centre, developing his style, and taking influences from the DJs of the Hacienda, Bugged Out and Tangled. He soon became hooked on the Progressive House scene led by Sasha, John Digweed, Renaissance, Cream and the Global Underground mix series, and, after a summer DJ'ing in Cyprus in 1999, returned to Manchester.

He subsequently held several residencies in Clubs & Bars around the City; Dry Bar, Joshua Brooks, South, the wonderful sweatbox where he had spent his twenties bouncing, Tangled and more recently Soundcontrol. These gigs gave Marcus the opportunity to DJ with many of his idols, such as Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff, Hybrid and Ashley Casselle.

30 years on, now living in Cairns, Australia, Marcus still hunts new sounds to share with anyone who will listen to this veteran of the Progressive House scene, creating mixes for a series called Just Add Sunshine, as well as producing guest mixes for other online platforms.

The Podcast - Episode 173  - Mark Fazzini

Welcome to Il Modo's Exclusive Series for August 2023.  We are proud to bring you this incredible mix from the very special talent that is Miles Atmospheric. 

Miles Atmospheric, DJ, Live act, recording artist and head of Atmospheric Existence Recordings (AER) a UK based record label that serves as an expression conduit for him and others around the world.

So far he has released over 30 records on vinyl/digital, with 2 artist long player albums Aeration (2014) & Miles Away (2017) on his imprint AER, and Chicago imprint Finale Sessions (Balance), for Chez Damier & the late Mike Zucker. Other highlights include labels such as Keith Worthy’s Aesthetic Audio (Detroit), Kirk Degiorgio’s Applied Rhythmic Technology, Ferox for Russ Gabriel, Common Dreams, Ornate music and Fabric London compilations.

His music took on a new life when connecting with John Digweed, with John inspiring Miles with several successful EPs to follow. A creative outlet which continues to blossom, with his album ‘Ancestral Communication’ being released as part of John’s award winning Quattro DJ Compilation, with it’s own CD as part of the 5 CDs of his DJ mix. Feedback has been nothing short of awesome, with support from Louie Vega, Laurent Garnier, Vince Watson, to name but a few.

With a classically trained background since he was young, Miles is heavily influenced by music with an avant garde slant. Growing up with contemporary music styles, cinematic film scores as well as classic jazz, funk, electro funk, soul, Acid House and Detroit techno, all fed into the inspiration blender, giving his sound a heritage and deeper edge amongst his peers.

Remixes for The Orb, ReKab,  has been remixed by Josh Wink, Monotix, PVNV, while currently producing releases for Bedrock. As well as his DJ bookings, Miles has more recently began performing live shows with Charlie Tear as ‘Quadra’. The duo focus on the dancefloor with their energy infused show journeying through shades of groove based House and Techno with an ethereal edge.

Over 25 years, music has taken Miles around the world, with his own brand of hypnotic layered deep techno touching base at the headier, deeper end of the spectrum. From Paris to Shanghai to Ibiza, via residencies and guest spots at many of the top clubs, parties and festivals. Miles is currently a resident at acclaimed Freerotation festival in Wales and former residencies at Beach Beach Boutique – Brighton & Turnmills London.

He also has a monthly radio show on Brighton’s 1BTN FM, 3rd Tuesday every month 18:00hrs- 20:00hrs, and previous shows on Ministry of Sound radio and London’s House FM.

From Belgium, White & Cold's sound universe is distinguished by deep exploration, sensitive introspection, and a reflection of his states of mind. Usually discreet and keeping his work in the shadows, he is nevertheless very active in his productions and creations. Throughout his career, he has established himself as a major figure in the Belgian electronic scene, successfully performing on stage.
