Returning to another of our favourite haunts, the party plane hits Scotland and its wild eastern regions. Here, we find an artist who has a rich history in his country's dance music scene, now with the skills and attributes to run TWO labels, artist management AND still DJ to the highest level. PFG give it up for Brent Lawson!

Raised on a steady diet of 80s synth music, Brent has always had one foot on the dancefloor. A clubber first, it was a fateful trip to nearby Arbroath that first opened his mind to the possibilities of electronic music as a DJ: “I had a love for the electronic sounds created by Jean Michele Jarre from that point I was drawn into electronic music.” He says, citing the Rhumba Club a favourite venue from his youth. 
“This night has informed so many years of my clubbing history and is responsible for everything that I have done and will do.”

The late Nineties were a fertile time for those venturing into DJing. And for Brent, gigs came quickly. After a short break raising and supporting his family, Brent is now free to refocus on his music and his company Probtech Management.

Comprised of two record labels and an Artist management company Probtech is a business on the up. With key additions to his staff this shows just how serious Brent takes his brand, and processes are in place to put Probtech in the same ballpark as the Bedrock’s, Drumcode’s and Toolroom’s of the industry.

On top of his own work with Pro B, Brent has taken up a new role with MOAI
Spain as the U.K. and Ireland consultant, he is also a director and resident of AATM Radio, resident of Music Is The Answer Dundee, Proton Radio Monthly resident, and soon to be taking on a new residency with Beach Radio.

At heart Brent is a DJ who just loves to share his passion for the music with his audience. As Resident at one of Dundee’s premiere nights MITA he regularly rubs
shoulders with the best DJs in the world. Brent is also making his first forays into the production world with a few releases under his belt, including music with Hernan Cattaneo, Soundexile, Quivver, Blue Amazon and most recently a new release on Balkan Connection...

PFG -  The Progcast - Episode 129 - Brent Lawson

I need music🎶atmospheric, deep, melodic and progressive. Water lover, gypset✈️ Burner🔥 I meditate & dance 🙏🏼🕉️💃🏻

Originally from Scotlands coastal East Lothian but now based in Edinburgh . Very broad musical tastes influenced over the years, my parents loved a party, their music definitely influenced me.

I was into early gangsta rap in 90s, then Leftfield,Daft punk etc , whilst working in a kitchen as a teenager in a Saturday, i listened to Pete Tong before finishing work and heading home for the essential mix later! 

Became hooked on clubbing during the early days of prog , 2000 onwards it was every weekend nearly.My love of clubbing and music has never stopped from those days.


Picked up Belt drive turntables before moving to 1210s in 06 and added Pioneers, I still use vinyl but mainly digital nowadays.


Over the years I have played in clubs in Edinburgh at nights such as Beatroot, Karnival. 

Aswell as Edinburgh I have also played at Kinfolk in Williamsburg ,Brooklyn NYC, Cariocas Beach Bar in Greece and also in the glamorous Cote d'Azur areas of St Raphael/Frejus. 

I hit a buffer in 2018 due to family circumstances and it wasn't until 2020 I got back into DJing again. 

I did 2 vinyl live streams during lockdown and afterwards I was Invited to do guest mixes for Online group PFG , I was then asked by Steven Mccreery and Kev Wright to do mixes for Beat 106. In July 2022 I was asked by Belgium/France based station, Xbeat radio to do a mix. I have since done a further 6 mixes for them .

The Pinnacle for me has been playing at the mighty Skyline parties in Glasgow, I was first asked to play at their 2nd Birthday Sudbeat Showcase in May 2024 alongside Graziano Raffa, Marcelo Vasami, Nicolas Rada, GMJ and Matter .

Incredibly I was asked to play again at the Selador records party in September 2024. Dave Seaman and  Steve Parry, alongside Kasey Taylor,Tara Brooks.

I like to try and use music from many different genres and artists. Anything goes ! 

From Ambient sounds to Hip Hop,Jazz,Disco and on to good ol House music with anything else in-between! 

I continue to record guest mixes for stations around Europe and hopefully beyond in the future ,
